First off I am not the seller. But I stumbled across an article about a recently auctioned wedding invition from Chris Cornell and Susan Silver sent to Mark Lanegan in 1990.
The ad goes on to say the following:
Has anyone heard of this auuction lot 270 before, and whether Mark has given permission for demo tapes etc to be sold?

Well the invitation sold for $460, and the reserve had not been met. Kinda crazy if you ask me, how much could he expect to get for it?

I dunno why anyone would want this. I don't want to say anything bad in case the seller is on this forum and because I don't know the seller personally but I can't imagine how someone would get their hands on items like these, decide to sell them and why someone else would buy it?! I mean if you use the invitation as an example it obviously meant enough to the owner for them to keep it safe and in great condition for over twenty years. Maybe I'm taking myself a bit too seriously.

People collect weird shit. Not for me to judge. True I should just get over it. It's not like I'm going to bid on any items like that anyways.

True I should just get over it. It's not like I'm going to bid on any items like that anyways. what about the demo tapes? When or if the demos go up for auction, Mark's people will be notified or hear it from the grapevine and assuredly have the tapes taken down as copyright holders. This already happened in the recemt past for WFTHG demo tapes that were posted with descriptions of the contents that were different than the existing 10 song demos that have been easily found / sometimes torrented since someone on here (cough cough me) shared them after receiving copies years earlier from ML's sister and brother in law, as well as the 5 disc Trees collection that their former soundman tried to sell off physical discs of rather than offering a torrent / ftp for all to have at once and no one got anything in the end or doubtfully refunds heh

I am not sure if they can stop someone selling a demo tape...? I am located in germany and do not know anything about the law in the States but as a movie memorabilia collector I have seen 35mm copies of films being sold. For example let's say PULP FICTION. Miramax as the distributor manufactured let's say 300 copies going round the cinemas in the States. Somehow a copy was sold. The buyers decides to sell this years after and I have seen lot's of auctions with copyright material like this. But I have always read the sentence "For private use only. No copyright given or implied". If I had bought the lot through Christies why should there be any other rules to me listing on eBay than for Christies selling it through their site?

As I recall Mark's 'people' didn't have the unreleased WFTHG demo tape taken down, Mark himself contacted the buyer and bought them.
