Hi all
Mark mentioned on Twitter that he will be doing some meet and greets on some European tour dates. I can’t find any information on this - anybody know anything?
Many thanks and best wishes

I don't use Twitter so I didn't see the post but every time I've seen Mark he's done them after the shows by the merch booth if that's what he meant.

In reply to a question asking if he meant the end of show signings he replied;
“No. I will sign at the end of shows as always. the VIP tickets are just a different experience being offered in some cities.”
Very very curious!

Ok its been offered at some shows so you pay to meet him, get a gift, hear a song at the soundcheck. He will still do after show signings 🙂 I know it’s been offered in London

No meet and greet in Paris in November (I've sent a mail to "Le Café de la danse")....

Yes. this is something new he's doing in certain cities on the upcoming tour. If it's offered where you are, you can see it listed where you buy tickets for the show. You still need to buy a normal show ticket' but you'll also see a 'VIP Package' listed if they have it. As mentioned above, it's a pre-show event that gives you access to soundcheck, a special merch item only available to VIP, and a meet and greet with a photo opportunity.
A lot of bands are doing these packages now, so Mark is trying them as well. He will still do a signing after the show as always, the VIP is just a little more, with a little more personal time. The question came up on Twitter because some people from a Facebook group were feeling worried that he would not do the post-show signing anymore now that he offered the VIP package.

The dublin date has VIP available just not on sale yet. Has anyone done this before? Is it worth the money? I'd love to catch a sound check

I have done it once before, for a different band that I really like, and it was worth it. I really can't afford to do it (I know people who always do the VIP when they have it, for every band they see, multiple times). I definitely can't do that, but it was worth it to do when I could. I got some cool merch, and a nice photo, instead of a 'lean over and look up' at the signing table type of photo. And soundcheck for sure was great - for this particular band, they did a full song and then a bunch of half songs that they didn't end up playing at the show, so it felt as though I saw a longer concert! Though I don't know if that's normal or what everyone would do.
This band also talked to the VIPs informally from the stage during soundcheck, though they didn't really 'chat' with us during the signing and photos. A little bit, but it was still a line situation in order to get everyone through the photos and signing.
This band did not do a signing after the show, or even come out - the only chance to speak to them was at VIP. If it happened that I could afford it for Mark when he was around, I would do it. Which should come as no surprise. :-)

Thanks Raeni, they're not on sale yet for me to price them and see if I can scrape the money together but the price suggestion on ticketmaster is 100 quid per person!! Im still in two minds about it, I think my urge to meet Lanegan isn't that strong plus I don't have shit worth signing battered CDS, a few vinyls and gig posters already framed. Then again I know I'd enjoy it, I'm the most indecisive person ever.

Think of it as a well deserved Xmas prezzie!

Just got back from Zurich, great concert! I did the VIP thingie, too, and that was nice as well, though I'm a bit undecided whether it's been worth the 100 CHF.

What did you do/see?
I don't know that I could justify doing them for every band, multiple times, though there are many that do. But the band I did it for, I felt it was worth it. And...you always feel like you wish you had gotten just a little more, too!

We got in 1 hour before the official entry, it was timed so we could listen to the last two songs from the soundcheck. Then Mark signed cards for everyone and we got a fabric bag imprinted with «Mark Lanegan Band Private Sessions» on it and a spectacle case. We took pictures and you could chat a bit. We were only five people so there was no rush. The merch booth and the bar were open and we could use the cloakroom free of charge. We were allowed to stay in the venue after the soundcheck, but I understand that this might not always be the case, depending on the venue and the band. I enjoyed watching the soundcheck and meeting Mark very much. About the «exclusive merchandise» … well, it’s not that exciting. Would I do it again ? Maybe, although not on this tour.

A spectacle case? How bizarre. Any chance you could post a picture of it and the bag?

I’m envious of all of you who can do these. I’m seeing Mark twice on this tour and neither is doing a VIP event. Hopefully he’ll do more on the next tour.

I am going to the Edinburgh show, but I would just buy stuff from the merchandise stand and if lucky get it signed after. I go to too many gigs to pay for the VIP. I did get it by mistake for Black Sabbath in Glasgow in January. Got given a bag with a book that contained picks and other stuff and looked really cool. I had actually only wanted to pay for the upgrade to the gold circle and didn't realise there was a cheaper way of doing it...

Hi Elizara, did he spend much time talking with you? I’m thinking of going Hi One of our group talked quite a while with him. I can't tell you how long it was exactly, I didn't check the time.
