I thought we could start a new thread about the on-going Soulsavers' European tour. If you attend to any of the concerts or have already done so, please don't hesitate to share your thoughts with us. If you feel like writing a review, that'd be just fantastic - in that case, please also remember to send your reviews to Raeni (onewhiskey at aol dot com).
I'm going to see them in London on July the 17th and can't wait. Too bad I missed them in Roskilde.

Mark is looking kind of Tim Waitsish in those pics. Maybe it is the lighting.

So they're mainly doing tracks from their latest cd? Soulsavers have done more than one cd right?

They did another one (Tough Guys Don't Dance - good stuff if you like UNKLE-y sort of things) 4 years ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do one or two off this one when they do their own headline stuff rather than the 30-min festy slots that they're currently doing. At the mo though, it's not surprising that they're plugging the new one - partly because TTDD isn't especially easy to get hold of, but mostly they'll be wanting to utilise Mark's vocals as much as possible (my ticket which arrived last week shows the billing as soulsavers featuring MARK LANEGAN, which shows what the promoters think of it all. Still, it's not as bad as the Twilight Singers tickets...). One of their recent-ish blogs was wittering on about learning new songs to fill the set rather than plundering their back catalogue, so it'll be interesting to see what surfaces. Personally, I'm hoping for Resurrection Song, as a Soulsavers version of that would be rather spiffing indeed...

What does your Twilight Singers ticket say? Mine just say: TWILIGHT SINGERS with Stars of Track and Field.

2004 ticket says, in increasingly boldier typeface (and I quote) The Twilight Singers feat. GREG DULLI (former frontman of the Afghan Whigs)It's a big ticket

Not as bad as the 2006 tickets, which said 'featuring Greg Duli'... But yes, I was bemused at the size of font they used for him.

I believe that mine just said "The Twilight Singers"
I can still look at my MC5 tickets if I want to see Mark's name and be totally pissed off. I thought about that over the weekend. I had not thought about it in a long time. I thought I was over it. Apparently I am not.

Roskilde setlist: Ask the Dust Paper Money Kingdoms of Rain Jesus of Nothing Revival Some Velvet Morning Spiritual Through My Sails Hi, i'm just writing this post from Roskilde Volunteers Longue, where I have worked for the last 14 days. I have been standing in the first row on Lanegan's gig on Saturday (7 pm, Arena, 07.07.07) making notes about the songs he played. the set list looked like this: 1.Ask the Dust (intro, without Lanegan) 2.Paper Money 3. unknown song with a beautiful line 'Baby i'm coming to love you all night long' repeated countless times. I've tried to find this song on the internet but i wasn't able. I thought it was called All night long, but i'm not sure 4.Kingdoms of Rain 5.Jesus of Nothing 6.Revival 7.Effigy by Creedence Clearwater Revival with two ladies helping Lanegan with the chorus singing the words 'who's burning' over and over again. This is where Lanegan left the stage. The show lasted exactly 34 minutes, the band was late coming on stage at 7.06 PM 8.Arizona Bay (outro) without Lanegan and heavily modified, I barely regonized it 9.Through My Sails by Neil Young sung by two girls alone, also heavily modified with altered lyrics. My review will be posted here soon along with (poor quality) pictures because i do not have a zoom option on my camera. It was a magical show but the audience was cruel for Mark. Constant whistling (very loud), screaming, stupid and pointless requests, Mark barely spoked with the crowd, mostly hanging his head or shaking it in disbelief. He was white as a ghost, moving slowely like he was hurting or ill I had a pleasure to speak to V2 representatives in the media village. Mr. Benjamin and Mrs Helen, were very nice to me and I would like wholeheartedly thank them for their time and information. I was told that Mark was not happy with the show, that there was tension in the band before they came out on stage (problems with equipment at the beginning of the gig) but I hope he will play in Roskilde again. Then good news is that few people from this board (regular members of the festival) left a package for Mark at the worker's office that was delivered behind the stage of Arena and left there to be passed on to him after the concert. The package consisted of a book about Roskilde called "Dreams and Drive", two official Roskilde T shirts (size L) and two programmes. I hope Mark got it and he knows that he still have fans who care deeply about him. all the best, i'm off to sleep Rita

realmofzaterra, thanks so much for the review Please check your PM's about All Night Long. Oh Shoney, perhaps we should have told you. You are the gift tonight. We are dipping you into the whiskey barrel and are rolling you round in tabacco. The bow comes courtesy of die and dimples, foz is providing the cornish clotted cream and m0ng0 and montage are in charge of the musical ambiance during the pig slaughter.

Thanks, Rita! I posted the original list from a review, so it wasn't my fault it was a bit wrong (could the All Night Long wossname be the Junior Kimbrough thingy?) Dutchypeople, it's now your responsibility to keep up the high standard that's been set, with proper setlists and reviews and stuff

Ai knew I'd see you! I had this feeling like there were more people from here at the Melkweg cus I got a lot of funny repeated stares. At least, that's what I told myself. Or maybe they were staring at me for being such an über-nerd.. When Mark first came up you could hear someone clapping (and hopefullly NOT giggling) way before anyone else started in. Yup, that was me. I saw him as soon as the backstagedoor opened and before he even got close to the stage. The dude next to me was taking notes and making his own setlist. Who knows, it might end up here. All Night Long by Junior Kimbrough was done, and it well made up for the growl-less Paper Money!!! Yeah peepers, brace yourself. He didn't growl..
