it was fantastic
some overall sound problems throughout the night, but vocals were on point.
Notable were a guest cellist from Fremont Seattle (couldn't hear her name) and I'm Ready joining the encore, along with a gag about soundchecking Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog. Greg sang the Cornell part and Mark only smiled and laughed when asked to do Eddie's. "He's a shy bastard, ain't he?" Greg's the shit hehe
Front Street was an astounding end to the intial set. Live with Me, Idle Hands, Down the Line and the entire encore for the high points for me. All Misery tonight was sang (sp?) from start to finish in harmony (or disharmony for some perhaps), Greg's vocals overtook Mark alot of the time, so it was weird.
The Stations God's Children All Misery Live with Me Seven Stories Underground Idle Hands Fringes Bete Noire I Was in Love Down the Line (fucking rocked) Each to Each Front Street
encore
I'm Ready River Rise Papillion (Shadow of the Season) No Easy Action King Only (w Amazing Grace intro) Meth Number Nine
the house music started playing before the band was fully off the stage, hard to campaign for a 2nd encore tonight
I'm more than satisfied, after being initally worried by some of the comments regarding the energy level. It can only get better from here, especially if they start adding more covers and Trees and Whigs ... one can dream but Greg is definitely apt on choosing awesome covers so it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Hmm,
Pretty rockin' show tonight. This was my 12th Lanegan show and actually one of my favorites. I can't stand Dulli but he didn't seem to scream or trash his vocals as with the 03 Showbox appearance. All in all a solid set and my only complaint being nothing different for the "hometown" crowd that got screwed last tour. After listening to the album and the few London shows for the last few days it was cool seeing them perform them live. Had a good time and hope anyone lucky enough to be there tonight did the same.

Fair enough, I've seen Lanegan with a cello prior and yeah Dulli blows it for me. Again though I was pleasantly surprised because he didn't come off near as arrogant as my first exposure to him.

Yeah, ho-hum, I feel really sorry for all you Showbox Seattle Quasi-People who have to put up with all of thses Lanegan shows...Maybe I can steal enough money to afford the fucking gas to go 900 miles to see the Twins in Atlanta.

I've got lots of love for Dulli, and think "I'm Ready" is a great addition to the setlist, sonically and thematically. I hope they play it at Webster Hall. I think it's cool that "Amazing Grace" has been tagged in there as well. Would love to have seen the Temple of the Dog bit ;D

i might add that i have been listening to the paris show for a week now, and live i must say it really just sounds like the twilight singers with lanegan. nothing really special. although i will hold most of my judgment until i actually experience it in los angeles next month.
but the record.....that is another story. it is so fucking good. and special. just like mokkly.

Great show last night. The Hunger Strike thing was pretty damn funny, that's the biggest smile I've ever seen from Mark. Can't believe it didn't sell out. I'm not a huge Dulli fan either but he was ok, not as much screaming as the Twilight Singers show at Neumo's.

Yeah, but the last time I went to see Mark at the Showbox in what, '04, we had two good opening acts and then no Mark.... So you take what you can get. This was my 5th time seeing Mark w/ various lineups and while it wasn't the best show I've ever seen (obv. Showbox 03 was), I fucking love Dulli and am always happy to see either of them. The setlist was good, the opening band (Great Northern) was excellent, we were able to show up after 9pm and still end up on the front rail. While there was a soundcheck, Greg did spend a lot of time asking for sound adjustments while on stage. Mark looked really, really healthy and happy. I mean, for Mark. Both the husband and I commented on it. While he never looks like he's having a good time, I think he did. I'm pretty sure Greg could have a good time if he played to a room at the local nursing home, he really loves an audience. Did anyone else notice that Greg and Mark were wearing matching shirts? I'm hoping against all odds that they start doing themed costumes a la Gnarls Barkley. I want Greg to be the Dude and Mark to be Walter.
