So. So I am more than a little paranoid here. Let me explain. On the first leg of this tour the gig at the Empire in Belfast was cut very short due to Dave being sick. Fair enough. But now Belfast has been completely ignored on this new leg of the tour. Am I being paranoid?* Does Mark hate Belfast so much as to deny me this new leg of shows with so many Screaming Trees songs in addition? Shit it's killing me that he isn't playing here.
*Envy more than paranoia, although it is a bit strange. And upsetting, for me at least. Jeff Klein ain't even playing here on his UK tour, what's wrong with Belfast? (I don't have the money to travel, before anyone points this out).

The thing is, the room in The Empire in Belfast where he played is little more than a jumped-up bar. I was quite shocked by how quiet it was all said and done.

It's been abandoned after the place got crazy. I can't blame them for no longer wanting to be associated with that place. I've heard this a lot on here but its never been properly addressed. Not recently at least. Whats the story behind it? I may be wrong, but as I remember from reading it at the time people were discussing Bubblegum and about how they were downloading it and stuff. Mark himself (as Kid Eastwood if I recall correctly) left a comment on the issue, something along the lines of, "Don't come on my back and tell me it's raining" or similar. He may have said more than that, but that's the bit I remember. Maybe something else happened after that which forced them to abandon the site but I don't know.

Not quite as exciting as it sounds, but in a similar vein to the mixtape thread....
I'm putting together a Lanegan show for a friends internet radio show. It'll be around an hour long, including my links between songs. I've narrowed my selection down to a running time of one hour and fourteen minutes. It's bloody hard losing stuff boy I'll tell ya. Here's what I got, and anything you think I should lose would be a help, thanks. Also I'd be interested in what you all think of the tracklist. All personal favourites but one or two could possibly be substituted :
Intro : The River Rise Barriers Night Comes Creeping Where Did You Sleep Last Night? Story Of Her Fate Nearly Lost You Pendulum Dying Days Hotel In The Fade No Easy Action Low Skeletal History One Hundred Days Who Built The Road Live With Me Some Misunderstanding Bete Noire *secret song (not really a secret)*
Thanks!

The one I used was Aimersoft Total Video Converter, pretty much drop the file in and choose what format you want to convert it to. It has different quality options you can set as well if you are so disposed (as I am!). I'm gonna try ffmpeg next to attempt to correct the frame rate, see what happens with that.
As a side note, your avatar has the lyrics of possibly my favourite Lanegan song, such a touching, emotional piece of work...... *cough* anyway, as you were!

I just converted this to a .vob file and burnt it to dvd. Had a quick look at it on a 42-inch tv and the quality is great, no blockiness that I noticed. There are frame rate issues due to the conversion but they are fairly negligible. I'm gonna have a tinker and see what I can do but seriously don't be put off downloading this (rimb's torrent), it's great quality.
Thanks again rimb, much obliged.

Cheers for the link rak. Here's the (badly) translated Google version, make of it what you will folks :
Tireless and always active on several fronts Mark Lanegan returns on stage with a new tour that saw him perform in the presentation of the new acoustic album of which still little is known officially. There are two dates for this great Italian artist who has built up over the years a massive following of fans and admirers of his voice and his stories: dark, gloomy and troubled. Mark Lanegan we've seen recently accompanied with Queens Of The Stone Age, Greg Dulli with the Gutter Twins, Soulsavers with electronic, down to two fine discs made with Isobel Campbell, is preparing to return with his entire piece in a disc to be exciting like his solo masterpiece of 2001 and Field Songs Bubblegum 2004. Great, then, the wait to review one of the voices on stage most characteristic, intense, magical, mysterious and controversial of the international rock scene, an artist since the 90s with his grunge band, Screaming Trees (with Soundgarden , Nirvana and Pearl Jam rock the peak of the 90s) for what is being heralded as a "Solo Acoustic Tour" where the emotions are to be in the foreground. A night made of rock, cigarettes, and especially emotions Alchool open heart presents to the public from the vocal cords than it is now a true icon among the most important in rock today.

I just picked up my tickets for the Empire show today! 16 quid from Ticketmaster at the back of Easons. The girl who works there was a bit gutted as Cathedral are playing the same night and she's seeing them over Lanegan.
So that's three of us (from the board) heading to the Empire then!

Yeah I saw him at the Limelight with the Twilights, it was well busy! He's played the Empire before, a couple of times I think. As far as I know they were pretty well attended. I was out of the country unfortunately.
I have a friend hopefully calling into the Empire tonight, I've gotten tickets for shows behind the bar there before. If not, Ticketmaster it is. Thanks for the heads-up, maybe we should get a meet-up sorted for it!

Probably just for the audio fidelity. Well that and the awful typo that renders "Some Misunderstanding" as "Some Misunderstaing". And the lie about there being a track 14.

It's a very nice mix it has to be said. But like everyone else I thought it was going to be mixes and possibly unused/bonus tracks. But sure. I really like it anyway though.

I think he may say "breathin' my brothers dirt" on one or two of the choruses.

Fantastic stuff there, thanks for taking the time out to do this Rich, and nice one to everyone else involved. Still, the WHOLE of 'Whiskey...' was demoed, holy shit! That's gotta be amazing. What a revelation, my mind is now going trying to imagine how each song sounds. Bloody hell...... roll on 2025! Haha, thanks again Rich!

-What other Mark solo songs have you considered covering on a Soulsavers album? And if any others were considered were any of them demoed?

I'm quoting news satire show The Day Today, although I'm getting a bit bored of it. Then again, hopefully an excuse to use the word "Newsfelch!" will manifest itself one day. Haha, as I clicked on this thread I thought to myself it would be punchy if you changed it to "Newsfelch". Or "Newsjiffy".
