I contacted 4AD to see if I can get this straight. Let's cross fingers.

Just bought it. The autograph-vinyl offer was still there so I think I made it on time. I can't believe the nightmare won't be over before February, 7.

Money is somewhat of an issue here too, but I'll see if I'm able to get it tomorrow.

I've watched those recently, and liked them all:
Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Good story, fantastic animations The Killer - Action, lots of it, but also solid characters and your typical John Woo: the difficulty of living by your own values and ideals in a corrupt world Unforgiven - Violent and amoral, but also nostalgic X-Men: First Class - A fittingly epic prequel to the first three X-Men movies Turkish Delight - A brutal drama by a still Netherlands-bound Paul Verhoeven... a fantastic performance by Rutger Hauer and Monique Van Der Ven Walk The Line - Joaquim Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon just about nailed their portrayals of John and June, on par with Ray, IMO

Yes, I liked that. And I like the idea of a calm ocean.

OK, so here's mine: for years I've been singing "from the one tiny sting/to that vacant flame"... and I've been thinking: "wow, incredible: that's such a great image!" Then, all of a sudden, I discover that the correct lyric seems to be "vacant fame"... so... well... mmmh, fail LOL But I like the way "vacant flame" sounds too much. So I used that as my nickname

I recommend you read Paul Bowles' The Sheltering Sky, but stay away from the movie.

This is getting old and so are you. Everything you knowand never knew. ;D Will run through your fingers just like sand The faces all around me, they don't smile, they just crack Waiting for our ship to come but our ship's not coming back We do our time like pennies in a jar What are we saving for?

Just listened to Gravedigger and well... yeah! I can't wait 'til February! And wow, those lyrics... Mark in full poetic mode. More flower imagery, too. I wonder about the verse sung in French... maybe a nod to Rimbaud? I heard Mark appreciates his poetry. There's a problem, though... now I want to listen to Bleeding Muddy Water!

I'm pleased to read that, bibi. Actually, I had kinda dreamed of Mark doing an "electronic" (or electronica-influenced) album for a while... I imagined it produced by Four Tet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_POkOLy2rM&feature=related) That would've been awesome, IMO. But what you wrote about sounds equally fascinating... looks like his collaborations with Soulsavers and UNKLE made their mark (no pun intended LOL)

Believe - The Bravery. Mostly a reminder of some good times I had a couple of months back, in a melancholy way.

The cover art left me kinda cold... I'm not sure I like it. I would've been happier if it had more of a painting-like look... I'm perfectly OK with flowery cover art. It can have several symbolical layers of meaning. Also, the title sounds kinda predictable per sè, but maybe Mark meant it to signify "the death of blues"? The death of the old, folk-country-blues-with-some-distortion-now-and-then Mark? Or maybe the end of sadness, his version of a "happy" record?

Hi guys, I didn't see an introduction thread (maybe I was lazy?) so I'll just say it here... this is my first post. Been listening to Mark's music for a good 4 years now. I discovered him through Piero Scaruffi's website, and I'm glad I did ;D
So, this is the first album to come out during my Lanegan addiction... and I want my new album fix! Very, very excited. Actually, the 30-second snippet of "The Gravedigger's Song" has got me salivating already... what a nightmare, I can't wait until February!
IMO, "Blues Funeral" will be the sound of Mark going theatrical, and I mean that in a very good way! "Ode To Sad Disco"? "Riot In My House"? "Phantasmagoria Blues"? I definitely think the man's decided to let irony (or at least some sarcasm) in. This will be one painful countdown...
