from CNN.com
In 1980, actor Bill Murray portrayed Thompson in the film "Where the Buffalo Roam." And in 1998, the film "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" was released, based on Thompson's book and starring Johnny Depp as the journalist. A new film reportedly is in production based on Thompson's novel "The Rum Diaries."
has anyone ever seen the Bill Murray film before? i tried to track it down a few years back but could never find it.

Like I already said, my church is the religion of drinking and revenge.
Our messiah is a pistol-waving, drunk cowboy.
RIP Mr. Duke

"Where the Buffalo Roam" is one of my favorite movies of all time. Bill Murray should have won an oscar for how he played HST. It shouldn't be too hard to find, I got it a Hollywood Video.

that's fine if you're in hollywood – over here even 'fear and loathing' hasn't been locally released (on dvd – and no-one rents videos anymore).

my favourite HST quote
(Concerning Garry Trudeau modeling the "Doonesbury" character "Duke" after him): "I've never met Garry Trudeau, but if I ever do, I'll set him on fire".
