What a wonderful, level-headed forum that is...
As to what happened, it doesn't sound like Josh was too happy about it, but that doesn't automatically mean he's delving back into old habits. I have to say though that after watching the RTE thing and the Conan O'Brien vid that the guy looks knackered (certainly compared to the Euro tour of November last year). Hope he gets the chance for a proper rest soon... EDIT: and hope he makes tonight's show for LDG

I'm fairly sure that he said that he was clean, although whether he is or not is not really anything to do with us, although internet forums the world over will no doubt be awash with is he/isn't he speculation from people who have no idea. Anyway, here's hoping that whatever is ailing him at the mo doesn't stop him from finishing his touring duties, that he feels better soon and gets to finishing the sodding Gutter Twins album ASAP

I'm curious about the account posted on there about the hotel clerk, who decribed a 'blondish' man who said he was the lead singer. If you've seen any of the recent QOTSA performances on tv, you'd see that all the members of the band seem to now be sporting the same plastered down, BLACK hair, except for Josh, who actually IS the lead singer. Rumors are so enlightening, aren't they?

Seems like Mark missed Detroit as well then. Some people are ready to say that the tour's over for him but fuck them. I still want to believe Mark had his own reasons and they're none of my business. forums.rekordsrekords.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=6728I just really hope this doesn't get any more serious and has nothing to do with any substance using. Wherever Mark is, I wish he'll be OK. We need him around.

How about here's hoping that he doesn't OD and/or kill himself and gets himself straightened out. Fuck everything else. Because it all depends on the circumstances - car accident aside, the guy has been touring almost constantly for a couple of years at least. That's enough to exhaust most people. Just because the guy has a history doesn't automatically mean that he's lapsed into old habits just because someone on the internet has decided that he must have done because of a few nights off or whatever, and it's sad that people are only too swift to judge someone they don't know so readily...

Foz = Reason + Voice Of the truth is none of us really know anything significant about Mark Lanegan's life at this point. I think it's time people realised that and stopped talking shit... it's absolutely pathetic to see/hear. i swear many people in music forums are more interested in myths and rumours than they are in music. it's like they think they're watching a soap opera or something. i wouldn't even dream of treating a guy i bumped into in the street with the lack of respect that music 'fans' treat their favourite musicians... in 'real life' you wouldnt talk shit about someone you didnt know in a public arena where their family/friends can hear/read it. it all comes down to respect. show it, give it, and you might even get some back. a bit of old-fashioned decency and courtesy, ladies and gentlemen. people bought tickets to see QOTSA. They saw QOTSA. now why cant they shut up and leave it?

I share the opinions above. Although this subject has got my jaws wagging as well, I truly hate the idea that people are treating someone's life as just another reality soap opera.
The reason I initially opened these threads here was that I got very excited of the idea to go to see Mark Lanegan perform with QOTSA in Berlin and in Copenhagen in June. That's why I've been "reporting" what's being said on the QOTSA board right now. The fact is that my pure excitement has turned into pure nausea as I've read the posts on the other board.
Even though I personally have very little or nothing to do with the bullshit that has been said, I now feel ashamed and partially responsible for the low standard of the "discussion" going on the QOTSA board just for pointing it out here. Because of bringing that dialogue here, I now feel like a sort of a gutter journalist; albeit I guess I couldn't have influenced the rumors and speculation myself just by pointing them out.
I wish Mark, whom I don't know at all but whom I truly look upon as a great musician and as someone very gifted who puts many of my own feelings into words, will be given the respect, the courtesy and the privacy he needs and is entitled to. I wish he'll soon recover from his exhaustion and will continue to make and perform great music if that is his own will.

no worries here,
you were just pointing out whats being said on other boards, and you stated that when you started this thread. Honestly after reading that thread it really makes me appreciate THIS board and the peeps who haunt it.

The man has a life, you hear the product and experience of that life in his tunes, why, why, why do people want to know the rest. Part of his appeal is that he is mysterious anyway. Someone falling off the wagon does not mean they will die, some people go to sleep and never wake up, people jog and have heart attacks. Everything is random and nothing means anything. Guessing is as pointless as playing Yahtzee. People on this board seem to have control and respect and thats why I like to look. I now have no interest in visiting the other.

Exactly. As an AIC fan it always pissed me off to read stupid rumours about Staley. They never made much sense and in the end when Staley did die, it was shocking to see the amount of total shite spread by the media, and the lack of acknowledgement and respect for family and friends. To know that the person you love was constantly haunted by rumour and ridicule must be tough to come to terms with.
So whatever is going on here, it has fuck all to do with us.
