Many thanks, Kyselina! I just can't picture Mark with a Rod Stewart-singing parrot. Shooting a Rod Stewart-singing bird, yeah, but keeping it? hahahaha That's probably some twisted form of karma ...

You're welcome. I think I got my 11(!) dollars worth just in laughing at some of the lines...and the parrot!
Plus it came with a CD "Harvest revisited" - a remake of the Neil Young album by various artists. My mom had that album when I was a kid so it holds a special place in my heart to this day.

It's impossible not to love a guy who loves dogs and hates photos. ;D

I found this old(-ish) interview with Josh Homme in a Danish magazine. I've only translated the bit about Mark Lanegan. ”After almost a year of nothing happening, Homme travels north to Seattle, where Screaming Trees singer Mark Lanegan finds him and offers him to play with them at the Lollapalooza tour. Lanegan had problems with an escalating heroin addiction at the time, but has said that Homme got the band to get their act together, because ”we didn’t want to look bad in front of the kid.” Homme: ”I loved being in Screaming Trees, because it taught me everything you should not do.” What does that mean?”God! I hope you’ve got time. Well, Mark Lanegan – I really like hanging out with him, because he doesn’t like most people. Of all people who doesn’t like other people, he is my favourite. Half the time I say to him: ”You don’t even like me.” And he’ll say: ”I can’t stand you, wanna go to the movies?” I say the same about his voice. It is fantastic, but he sings as teeth, I have a real urge to brush.” from Gaffa, May 2005 www.e-pages.dk/gaffa/2005-5/41 (Danish)

Analuisa, you are awesome! Much nicer getting to hear the interview along with the performance. Although going right from "This Strange Effect" to metal was a bit jarring (must be getting old). I converted the WMA file to mp3 at 320 kbps then split the file to separate the interview and performance with Mark for those, like me, who, although I like music that I can't understand the lyrics of, find it a bit overwhelming when I can't understand the DJ and he talks a lot. Yes, the DJ talks too much, indeed. And too fast!
Anyway, there were some funny moments, like the guy wanting to know Mark's opinion about the sold out concert (!!). Stupid question.
And Lanegan being ironic and just answering:..."Er....it doesn't suck".
LOL!
Mark still smells like teen spirit! ;D

From San Francisco Examiner: www.sfexaminer.com/entertainment/music/2011/06/mark-lanegan-man-mystery-plays-great-american-music-hall#ixzz1PFnwdiWUMark Lanegan, man of mystery, plays Great American Music Hall He has a steely, cobra-hooded gaze, tattoos down his sinewy arms all the way to the knuckles, and a singing voice so sepulchral it could give Boris Karloff himself the creeps. Ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan cuts a rather imposing figure. But he’s quick to caution fans that the anticipation of meeting him might exceed the actual event. “Although I’m not really aware of what the anticipation level is nowadays,” he says. “I’m sure that it just has to outweigh the reality. Because in truth, I’m really just a boring guy.” Lanegan — who plays a special acoustic show in San Francisco on Tuesday — knows that decadence is a romantic notion, and that it might have worked well for him in his hard-partying youth. But, at a wiser 46, he’s no longer a misanthrope. “I quit drinking quite a few years ago, and everything else a few years after that,” he says. “And I even quit smoking almost three years ago, and that’s probably the smartest thing I’ve done in ages. And it was pretty easy, really.” He also is experiencing a real Renaissance period, creatively. After five solo sets that culminated in 2004’s “Bubblegum,” his recent exploits have included: touring and recording with his old chum Greg Dulli in both the Twilight Singers and the Gutter Twins; singing for U.K. electronica duo Soulsavers in studio and on the road; tracking a song with James Lavelle’s UNKLE project; periodically hooking up with his ex-outfit Queens of the Stone Age; and dueting on three albums with Scottish chanteuse Isobel Campbell, including last year’s Gothic-America-flavored “Hawk.” “I’ve done a lot of stuff in the last few years,” says Lanegan, who just landed a new solo cut, “Burning Jacob’s Ladder,” on an upcoming video game called “Rage.” “Mainly because I’ve had a lot of opportunities — and the energy — to do these things. And I enjoy it more now than I did when I was younger, when I was abusing myself. So now that I’m free of that stuff, I think this is a really good job. One that I love.” Lanegan hates to shatter the mysterious myth. But he’s basically a homebody. “I have a couple of dogs, and I love playing with them, and spending time with my girlfriend, watching basketball, and even cooking — just the normal stuff,” he says. He just finished an alternate version of “Jacob’s” for his forthcoming Alain Johannes-produced comeback. What’s the record called? Lanegan laughs, dark and ominous. “‘Blues Funeral’” he says, adding “Hey — I have to leave a little mystery, man!” IF YOU GO Mark Lanegan Where: Great American Music Hall, 859 O’Farrell St., San Francisco When: 8 p.m. today Tickets: $25 Contact: (415) 885-0750; www.gamhtickets.com
