It's not a bad song, but not even a great one.
It was intended/written for a videogame, this song should be released as a b-side of a single in my opinion.

Maybe it might play better within the context of an album. As long as it ends up on a slab of vinyl, I"m happy.

This song, in my opinion, is not on the same level of his songs with the soulsavers or some of his best songs with isobel campbell. That's why i think this is "b-side material".

I like 'Burning Jacob's Ladder' and wouldn't mind seeing it on the new album. The below comments suggest a new version of it is to be included as B-Side on a 7" single in January, so whether that's an indication that it my not feature on the album, I don't know:
From the hmv.co.uk website:
'Prior to the album, ‘The Gravediggers’ Song’ will be released as a 7” single backed with a new version of ‘Burning Jacob’s Ladder’, a song which briefly featured in a trailer for the Rage video game earlier in 2011. The 7” will be issued on coloured vinyl, and available from January 5th'.

I love this song! I came here to say something more profound about it, but the double eyes in the avatars freaked it outta me. I didn't realize it freaked anybody out, it certainly wasn't my intention....I just thought it was interesting. Hope you like the new one. |

I really like the song and would be happy to own the original version of the Videogame too. Of course I am happy that there will be a Single release with a new version as B-Side. On Marks Homepage in the Discography & Lyrics section a "RAGE - Burning Jacob's Ladder (single)" is mentioned. Does anybody know something about this "release"? Thanks in advance! That's just the song used in the video game promo, which was offered (still is? I'd have to check) as a free download from the game site - therefore it's release - as a digital-only freebie.
edit : I just checked, and if anyone failed to download BJL already, they are shit out of luck, the free download is no longer being offered.
