As a true vinyl collector, I'm stoked to get a copy of this. Look, you could argue about whether or not the vinyl bootleggers are scum, but onewhiskey.com clearly promotes digital bootleggers, so why not embrace vinyl bootleggers. Sure, the digital bootlegger doesn't make $$$, but a limited pressing of 300 numbered pieces of vinyl isn't making anyone money. Pressing vinyl isn't cheap and if you are a vinyl collector like me or a "everything Mark Lanegan" vinyl collector, you'll find this cool as sh!t and probably irresistable. The price is well below trying to buy Whiskey for the Holy Ghost on yellow vinyl, which will go for around $125 - $250, or The Soulsavers It's Not How Far You Fall...which sells for over $200 - $300 (if you can find a copy of it) or Ballad of the Broken Seas, which will cost $100 - $150.....granted, these are official, but I shelled out $40 to get the 2 LP of QOTSA bootleg "First Time On Vinyl and B Sides" which had Mark on a few tracks and trying to get a copy of the "self released" 10 inch will now cost you a minimum of $100 (for 6 songs). It's a wierd fanatical fan collector thingy...and I for one think it's f'n awesome! For fun...Here are the highest priced sales recorded by Popsike.com for Mark Lanegan sold vinyl records: www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?pagenum=1&searchtext=mark+lanegan&incldescr=&sortord=dprice&thumbs=&currsel=

Amen to that. Look, I don't mind paying £200-300+ for decent official vinyl in any form but vinyl bootlegs and Cd's in this day and age are worthless in terms of collecting anyway so why bother? When you can download it all for free (often including artwork) why would you pay for bootlegs and threaten the very tapers who record these shows for fellow FANS benefit? A true fan does not support bootleggers who use other fans recordings and artwork for their own financial gain and in doing so risk a clamp down on tapers who simply enjoy listening to live recordings of their favorite artists. Look I'm a massive collector myself i understand the collector mentality but when ANYONE can make a bootleg you will NEVER own them all! A case in point is that right now I'm listening to a bootleg that I know you don't have. How do i know? Cos i taped it! The lines are not blurred here this is clear as day!!! There is a vast difference between trading a digital recordings of shows and selling them. People share digital shows with people to spread the love of an artists music not to turn fans recordings into profit.

A true fan does not support bootleggers who use other fans recordings and artwork for their own financial gain and in doing so risk a clamp down on tapers who simply enjoy listening to live recordings of their favorite artists. if you tape a show, share a digital bootleg or buy a bootleg vinyl is all the same shit everyone "should" spit on. at least as long as the artist isn't ok with that. the thing is, if a bootleg contains music you can't hear somewhere else than on this bootleg (i mean if it was maybe a special unplugged show wich does not exist on any other official releases. i spit a bit on the rule that says bootlegs suck. the thing is, i really buy official stuff and care about supporting musicians.. i'm just thinking of pink floyd bootlegs i got on vinyl and bought for 60/70 $. i'm to young to have seen floyd live and their live shows were far away from their albums, so i really don't care if i pay 70 bucks to a fan investing time & money for "something good". and i paid 250 $ just to see roger waters live, so what. same for lanegan, i got about 130 cds/vinyls where he's part of and 2 of them are qotsa bootlegs with songs that aren't released in any other way. you can download them all for free or watch on youtube, but everything you do with these recordings is illegal anyway, and i prefer to have vinyl than youtube so i pay this bastard. hard to explain, but i hope you see my point of view. it's not for the bootleggers, it's for my fetish and for the music. ;D

I have no idea what Mark himself thinks about people taping his shows, but I suspect he is more ambivalent about it than most artists, as long as they are not profiting from it. He cares enough about giving the fans a nice souvenir of his tours by releasing great sounding shows on the merch desks. not charging over the odds and even having a bit of tongue in cheek referencing via the dodgy cover art.
I'm sure he knows it goes on - he only has to come here to see show recordings are circulated freely - but turns a blind eye to it because its done for the love of the music and the performance. It's not about private gain. Far from it - the time invested in getting these shows recorded, processed, uploaded, burned etc is quite a big deal really, and nobody is asking for a penny out of it.
I for one am all about giving proper fans a chance to hear shows they couldn't get to in the best sound possible, Its about sharing the love of an artist.
It has nothing to do with black market gangsters shoving some crappily mastered recording onto coloured vinyl, putting it into a knockoff sleeve and flogging it for silly money. The artist and the fan get ripped off in both scenarios, while the only one who gains is the businessmen who care not one toss for the actual music.
I bought a dodgy bootleg album once and instantly regretted it - a paltry tenner for a green vinyl copy of Dylan's long out of print World Gone Wrong might seem like a bargain, but when the pressing sounds like absolute shit and the sleeve falls apart after a day or two, who's on the winning side? oH, I'm sure Bob himself is not exactly crying into his pillow of money every night as a result, but you get the point - it's just A BAD THING, and shouldn't be supported.

Wow..the cost of pressing vinly is much less than I thought. I ran the count at 300 pressed with all the basics that "Julia" probably had, and it cost $1683 to press them. That means that they cost a little less than $6 a record to create...
Still...I like it and I'm glad that I bought a copy. Life's short and it made me happy for a moment...however, most of these board members are grouches that like to be negative towards the things i like. Opinions are nice to have. I also like drugs, porn, foul language and all around bad behavior. Just saying...

Life's short and it made me happy for a moment...however, most of these board members are grouches that like to be negative towards the things i like. Opinions are nice to have. I also like drugs, porn, foul language and all around bad behavior. Just saying... Haha, I also appreciate your collection obsession (what's up with the price of the Soulsavers' LP btw - the print run must have been very low?), but I think the "grouches" have expressed their logic against paying for boots pretty reasonably. making a profit behind artists back is different from doing no profit & being a fan, not a leech. This is the crux of the argument, and the reason why an artist, and anyone (label, promoter etc.) who helps make their music available to others, could be "grouches". why would you pay for bootlegs and threaten the very tapers who record these shows for fellow FANS benefit? A true fan does not support bootleggers who use other fans recordings and artwork for their own financial gain and in doing so risk a clamp down on tapers who simply enjoy listening to live recordings of their favorite artists. And this is the reason why the rest of the board members could be "grouches"! The sharing of boots for no profit is one of the great things about this board - we're all here for the music. As I say, I get the collection thing, but on balance in this case it is not worth risking the great free-share bootleg environment going on here. Especially if it only brings you happiness "for a moment"! Yes, I realise that one individual buying an overpriced vinyl boot (hopefully) won't result in a ban or sanction on taped material here, but it is about supply & demand - those who appreciate freely-shared digital boots shouldn't make up part of the demand of for-profit vinyl boots.

Recieved my copy in the mail today.....here are my 2 cents.
I was instantly annoyed because the guy who sent this to me did not take the time to ship it properly, so it arrived with two bent corners and damaged spine. Super lame if you pay $70 and they can't ship it properly. When I put it on the turntable, the record was slightly warped (poor packaging), which annoyed me as well. The sound is an audience recording and I'd give it a 7 rating. The audience was pretty appreciative, so there is barely any audible talking or clinking of glasses that you would expect from an audience recording.
They record isn't bad, but they they added fade outs and fade ins inbetween songs, which is fine, but it doesn't work when you listen to No Easy Action / Miracle, because there shouldn't be a gap and kind of kills the rhythm / mood of the songs.
The artwork on the back is good, but the tracklist has a gramatical error (Can't catch the rain), which is typical of bootlegs. I do like the hand numbering on the back...I've got 251/300 pressed.
All in all, a little disapointed with the jackass that packaged this, but the music sounds good and it's got a very healthy tracklist of songs....if you are a vinyl collector of Lanegan's, this is pretty good addition.
