Hello.
Did anyone pick up this month’s Mojo? Apparently Mark recorded a cover of a Nick Cave song. Anyone know what he did?

Not surprised. It wasn't very good - Brompton Oratory that is, some of the rest is great. Patchy.

Dig Lazarus Dig is a great album, indeed. Do you know Grinderman? It is Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds with another name, doing heavier stuff, awesome stuff!

I keep buying his records, but the last one that really did it for me was The Boatman's Call. If you're looking at his older stuff, I'd recommend Tender Prey or Let Love In as pretty good starting points.

So we're on to Imitations record and Nick Cave, are we? Imitations record. Eck. Dreadful. Wince inducing. Like karaoke, and not in a good way (you probably don't even need to say 'and not in a good way' when saying 'like karaoke', huh?) Especially that Mack the Knife song. Flatlands is the one standout on that album*. And the spliced version with the singer Chelsea Wolf even better. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq47_j82iEoNick Cave. Not familiar enough with him to have recognized that as a song of his on Imitations. I too have tried to listen to Nick Cave but... the music was just ... too ... 'busy' or something. i thought brompton oratory was one of the best songs on imitations though. Agreed. TBH, though, I love that album. It's filled with surprises. It's not one of my favorite Lanegan albums, but I like Imitations. A lot of my least favorite Lanegan songs have come from this current era (which I guess you can chalk up to him being more and more experimental - there's bound to be some stinkers), but the albums themselves are still really damn good IMO.
