I got it, it's ok ? Obviously way less interesting/entertaining than SBAW. You learn a few things, but at the end of the day Lanegan was a closed up guy and even a lot of his close friends didn't really know what he was up to at times.(and no Greg Dulli interview, le sad) But there's a couple of cool or not so cool anecdotes.
A tattoo artist friend (i think) went on vacation with Lanegan on some island. And they had a boat and they wanted to go snorkeling or something. So Lanegan had a swimming trunk thing on. And was like "Take no pictures, or I'll kill ya" The guy said underwater Lanegan looked like an albino dolphin. I laughed quite a bit.

The most interesting part of the above article is thr Lanegan solo demos of The Winding Sheet. Wonder if those tapes exist?

few cool tidbits, but overall it seemed messy and rushed. It even mentions Van Conner's passing, so it was finished only a few weeks ago. Quite a few spelling errors, and some printing errors, and lots of speculation too. meh.

It was never going to live up to any of Mark's own writing, but I think as many have said, there are a few tidbits in there that I hadn't heard, and hearing some of Lanegan's creative processes from the likes of Mike Johnson and Alain Johannes was interesting.
I'd heard Jeff Fielder previously say that he was due to play at the funeral/memorial service in LA and had to withdraw due to Covid. It was interesting to hear what his choice of songs were.
I quite enjoyed reading Gary Lee Connors' recollections, and found that he was generally fairly complimentary about Lanegan, despite the way he was spoken of in Sing Backwards and Weep. I think his friends all spoke well of his loyalty as a friend and largely tried to balance the mean and harsh side that Lanegan had with their own recollections of more humourous and laid back times.
I agree that it also seemed rushed, some small errors on titles of things and stuff which could have been remedied with a quick look at the back catalogue and some printing errors which made it look like some pages hadn't been proof-read (sentences you had just read appeared to start up again in the middle of the next sentence was something I saw a couple of times).
I like Chad Channing, but got the idea he didn't really know Mark and his contributions seemed to act just as filler and not really any different than if they had just asked a fan for some opinions a lot of the time.
Some of it did seem to come-off very speculative and gossipy/tabloid-y at times, with part of one chapter seemingly just dedicated to everyone having a guess at Lanegan's cause of death and allusions being made to Lanegan whilst not possibly falling into exact old habits, at least having issues with pills/speed in latter years. It does paint a picture of someone who did largely liked to keep to himself, and that lots of people who were fairly close to him didn't know as much as you thought they might. He seemed quite guarded was a general impression (possibly not that surprising, I think one of his poems is purely about wanting his own business kept to himself).
Overall, I think if you are interested in Lanegan, it's a decent little read, with a few funny and interesting bits, but not essential in any way.

Won’t bother. Cash grab. Plus, Nick will say anything. I don’t believe for a minute… Lanegan had anything to do with writing for Nirvana. Bullshit!!!

I don't regret reading it and find it a good complement to the books written by Mark Lanegan himself. I really liked the little details or anecdotes told by his friends or fellow musicians. This, for example, allowed me to discover Robbie Basho.

This, for example, allowed me to discover Robbie Basho. That is always a bonus from a book if you discover new music. I only heard of Robbie Basho a few years back after Lanegan shared a song of his on Twitter and recommended the Visions of the Country album, which I then went and bought. Great stuff.
