With that quiet beginning I didn't think this would be a rock tune So nice to hear him again with something "new"
Next to Burning Jacob's Ladder, I am also getting some Message to Mine and This Lullaby (QotSA) vibes in some sections
Can't wait for the rest

Beginning reminds me of burning Jacob’s ladder. Decent track, but can see why it was left off. yeah, I def hear the BJL musical progression.. song's up for pre-purchase on streaming sites like Qqobuz & good to see the release will get a hi-res treatment too..

Was listening to the old Italian radio interview/session to re-familiarise myself with You Wild Colorado as I thought that this might have been where the version on here was taken from (holding out a hope that the abandoned Dear Mr Fantasy cover attempt was included as well!). Turns out it's not

Hoping everyone's preorders are ok. Some people on Steve Hoffman music forums say they've since had cancellation emails from Music Direct saying apparently it's unavailable online, and advising them to check with brick and mortar stores on the day. I'm hoping the lack of other people saying the same from other retailers means it's just a Music Direct issue...

Got confirmation from Rough Trade that it’s on its way! I’m not back home until Thursday or Friday, but should be waiting for me when I get back.

They've yet to even take payment for my pre-order yet, hopefully not a sign that they've taken more orders than they can fill (esp. when I could have still gone elsewhere at that point). Ah well, I got to review it anyway so at least it's here to listen to in any case

Gonna be a bittersweet listen for sure.

Waiting on confirmation that the box is dispatched... I see some indie stores have received their stock, so I expect it shouldn't be too long. It would be nice if it arrived before Friday, but I'm trying not to hold onto that!

Fucking bullshit!!! All these greedy fucks!!!
Me and my brother just got denials from rough trade.
Fuckin terrorist supporting jerk offs.
And you know people only ordered to sell them for waaay fucking more. And maybe casual listeners.
Not … not ones that have fucking cried and continue to over Mark.
I feel a relapse coming on….

Anyone who got it willing to share a picture of the "booklet" section of the performers on the previously unreleased songs? Only getting a digital copy tomorrow as of now. Couldn't find the info on Discogs yet www.discogs.com/de/master/34766-Mark-Lanegan-Band-Bubblegum(not sure if there will be an extra section for the XX version, or if they will be filed together under the linked master-entry

Just finished my first listen through of the whole package.
The outtakes are pretty good, but the real highlight are the "hotel session" tracks with Troy - much better sound quality than I was expecting and terrific renditions of the songs, especially You Wild Colorado. Also notable that St James Infirmary has the traditional lyrics but to the music of Mirrored.
One minor gripe (at least with the digital version I have) - most of the tracks on the outtakes disc sound like they're cut off a few seconds too soon and with no silence following them so there are some jarring transitions between tracks. Don't think there's any music missing, just feedback, chatter etc. but doesn't sound great.

The highlight for me so far was Union Tombstone or Soldier - Union in particular was such a surprise.
