Vangelis - Blade Runner soundtrack (new remaster on translucent red vinyl, sounds STUNNING)
Would have also had Nick Drake's new Bryter Layter reissue vinyl boxset thingy but the postman couldn't be arsed leaving it with my neighbour, so I have to go and get it at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

Melvins - Everybody Loves Sausages Their cover of Queen's Best Friend may well be the strangest thing they've ever done, stranger even than roping Jello Biafra in to do a Roxy Music song (as they do later on)

Public Service Broadcasting: Inform-Educate-Entertain Sort of what Ministry's 'Jesus Built My Hotrod' done indie-style by men wearing bowties in the 1950s. With banjos.

Anaïs Mitchell - Hadestown Anaïs Mitchell - Young Man in America I'd kind of forgotten how much I love these albums. She's one hell of a song writer She's great live too and a lovely person. Do you have The Child Ballads ? Not written by her but really beautiful covers of traditional songs.

Ooh, I'd love to see her live, but she hasn't been around this part of the world, as far as I know (and by 'this part of the world' I specifically mean Denmark:) ) I haven't heard Child Ballads yet, but it's on my 'to do' list, and I can imagine she's a great interpreter. Her voice does possess a somewhat childlike as well as storytelling quality. And I'm still in awe of her retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice in Hadestown. I think creating the setting of poverty is immensely powerful - particularly in regards to why Eurydice ends up in Hades as a result of hunger and not of literal death. And "Why we Built the Wall" is such a desolate song.

Hey I was looking once for great interpreters for the Child Ballads, scince I'm always looking for music outside the scope of pop, I stumbled upon Anais Mitchell but she didn't convince me, Ewan MacColl did, but I guess I should give it another try for I didn't pay much attention.

I'm quite liking it a lot. It's different and yeah some of it does sound similar to their last album but I can't stop listening to it. The title track and the last three songs I love.

On a recommendation, I am listening to Back To Zero by The Night Terrors. About halfway through the 1st listen, my jaw is on the floor. Which is handy, as I can now fit more wine in.
