Check out his website and hear some of his new tunes at www.purpleoutside.com. He posted some Trees news on the site: Screaming Trees: Apparently early 2005 is the release date for the Trees comp of our Epic recordings. It's on Sony Legacy so I don't know how easy it will be to get. It's got "Who Lies in Darkness" from the Something About Today ep that no one probably ever heard but us and two unreleased songs from 1994, "Paperback Bible" and Watchpocket Blues". I have also heard that a good quality bootleg of Clairvoyance (our first album) is in circulation. It's never been on CD before and I'd like to get one because I haven't heard it in about ten years. Mark is still touring and just released a new album called "Bubblegum". Van has his band Valis with our brother Pat. They've been touring and putting out records on a label called Small Stone. They rock very nicely. I've heard that Mark Pickerel still runs Rodeo Records in Ellensburg, he's the last one left there, even my Mom and my younger brothers live in Kittitas. I have heard nothing of Barrett perhaps he is a shaman in the wilds of New Mexico where he was last reported to be.

my first thought about this thread was "Where did Geddy Lee go?"

third "awesome!"

I love good food...so I always watch "Emeril Live"....anyway...they always have a band playing on that show. Usually it's just his house band, but this one time I saw Barrett and his band "Wayward Shamans" playing as the house band of the day. I couldn't believe my eyes!!! They were kickin the funk!!!

www.purpleoutside.comgo to gary lee conner's site and click on the Screaming Trees bit at the top... then go through the album covers... they tell you a little story about each album, from his point of view... do it in order. it's great. definitely worth a look if you're a trees fan.

positively. bands seem to really shine when they all hate each other though. i'm going to try beating up a fellow band member this weekend, see if i can wrench a 'Look at You' out of everybody...

positively. bands seem to really shine when they all hate each other though. hating each other is good. hating the rest of the world is sometimes very good. hating yourself also seems to work. basically, hate is good. think of how bland the beatles are/were individually. nothing creative. no conflict. no one to beat. which is why lanegan is a good exception to this rule... but, by the same token, bands get boring when they settle these things and carry on for the sake of it... it gets too business-like. id argue that the 'trees were heading the same way after Dust came out... 2000 demos ARE good, but there is an air of 'this is what we do so we have to do it' about the whole thing... which is a shame. oh well, it beats churning out the latest couple of REM albums... or the last however-many-Stones albums... or, err... being U2. respect to mr.lanegan for moving on. and to the others as well. they're all a bit more settled and chilled, while Mark is running around doing tons of stuff... he clearly understands the meaning of the phrase 'Rust Never Sleeps'. move on. move up. acknowledge the past. discard the past. keep going. and on that thought-provoking note, i realise i should be heading out. meaningless rant over.
