Anyone who get the cd Live in Studio Antwerp, could tell us about the cd (tracks and how it sounds)? Thanks in advance. antwerp has seven new songs (muddy water, grave, harborview, sad disco, phantasmagoria blues, quiver syndrome and tiny grain of truth (but no st luis elegy), plus can't come down, resurrection song, sleep with me and wish you well. the quality is great. i'll report back more in detail when i spent some more time with it. Thank for your kind review Susi. Hope to hear more from you soon.

I'm about 98% sure that this has just been stitched together using the version from the Urbino, Italy 08-02-2002 bootleg. Without doubt it's taken from Urbino. Much better the live version.

As usual Italian music magazines love Mark on their cover...

No, thats the whole point of listening parties in record stores - to get you in the shop buying other stuff. If the album streams online prior to offcial release, it will get torrented and youtubed and rapidshared before you can say 'royalty cheque, Mr Lanagan?' Just wait. It's not long now and the brain exercise will do you good. We live in an ADHD culture and it wouldnt hurt to just chill out and savour the anticipation. I'm not quite persuaded that the album won't get torrented and youtubed and rapidshared when 25 stores will have it before us. And I've been exercising my brain on that album for 8 years, now I'm tired...

I think that would be fair during Blues Funeral listening parties stream the entire new album online for those who couldn't be in the stores. Anyone with me?

Does anyone else think Mark sounds like he's got a cold/blocked nose in this song. It doesn't bother me....I think his voice sounds fantastic.....just blocked nosey. I couldn’t agree with you more! I really love the instrumental section but I can't say the same thing on vocal work. It doesn’t persuade me at all...

Great! I wonder what that means... maybe he broke away from his addiction on that day? Somewhere on OW there's a thread about it. Anyway we don't have any certain answers...

I understand that you're worried, actually I think some of you won't like the new turn he's taking. Personally, I couldn't be happier... I actually feared that after Bubblegum, he would go back to a more stripped down album and even though I love his older stuff, i wanted him to get out of his comfort zone. it's exactly what he did on BF. When you get the album, I think you should all listen to it several times before making a judgement. When my friend gave it to me, she told me she was disappointed because everything sounded the same, i asked her if she felt the same way a few days later and she told me that she didn't and that she loved it now... (it's a good thing considering that she'll be the one writing the review) Give it a chance, I think you won't be disappointed! Bibi, what could you tell us about Mark's vocal performance? Which track(s) did you find more interesting on that side? Still now, I don't know what thinking about his work on The Gravedigger's Song... Anyway, in my opinion, the musical arrangement works better than ever!

I'm almost sure that Mark was inspired to call Blues Funeral in a such way, by W.H. Auden's painful poem called Funeral Blues.
And it's not the first time he has involved with Auden, 'cause Mark played live another of his poems Roman Wall Blues (and set to music by Alex Harvey).
Funeral Blues
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent he dog from barking with a juicy bone, Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead, Put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now: put out every one; Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun; Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood; For nothing now can ever come to any good.
