a brave and somber effort like few would muster but guitar parts werent all they Shouldve been...he lost me in river rise. Still the man sung his guts out albeit with the effects of changing climates. I'm very fortunate for having seen the corner gig this time round. Thanks heaps for the effort to spoil us

"He does not appear to enjoy performing."
Interesting take. Not everyone jumps around stage like a mad man and puts on an act to get crowd reaction. Any reaction is based on the musical content rather than the theatrics. So you get a performer who is less than talkative (other than the content of the performance) and very much an introvert and that equals does not enjoy performing. I wonder if they would say the same thing about an actor who stay in character the entire performance rather than address the crowd between acts. Brings up an interesting question. At least this guy reviewed the show not like that other clown who review neck hair and bald spot of the gentleman in front of him.
Just for the record it now pains me to read about these shows knowing that we are not getting any here.

Thanks heaps for the effort to spoil us Hey were you to Brisbane? I looked around, but all I could remember from our last meeting was that you were tall and this did not really help. It was a good show. I had a feeling that Lanegan was off colour (he seemed to cough a fair bit and said even less than you'd expect). If pushed I'd prefer the full 'band' setup, but it turned out to be a great alternative take on his set. One thing I couldn't help but think -- what if he'd done something similar to the outstanding Nick Cave Solo / Grinderman tour from a few years back -- half hour acoustic followed by the full band. Something for everybody.

Nah, just the Wednesday night. I wasn't expecting much to be honest and for me it was really suited for a cold quiet night. He mentioned no expectations after that twilight gig and its rung true ever since. I just liked the rawness of it all without the bells and whistles and I think we deserved that for a change. It was like a moment of closure for me after first seeing him in '95 with the Trees and yeah he was definitely crook. He sauntered in and out of the joint and coughed away from the mike after most songs. In any case, I kinda liked seeing the workhorse side of him on stage. Made me appreciate just how hard he works and how easy he makes it look - no comparisons.

Has anyone got a spare Live at Leeds cd from that Australian tour?
I'd be willing to buy or trade.
Cheers

I wonder how much it costs to have him play at a party? How would you get an invite to such a thing? Damn celebrities!

Actually, maybe this is why the Adelaide show got cancelled. Sucks to be them.
