Seriously.

In the liner notes, or whatever they're called, it doesn't day that Mark is singing that song.. So there's no way you guys can ever prove it!
Did you guys know the P in PJ Harvey stands for "Pajamas" ? I had no idea.. untill I saw the Desert Sessions booklet. Salvation for all, I always knew you guys were wrong. Who the fruc would call their kid polly?!?
Edit: Who has more info on this guy named Rex Everything? I hear he's got something to do with Nick O.'s band..

Proof:
I was talking to an old friend on mine last night, he's just come back into town after many years in the US.
Anyway, he did a double take when i mentioned this discussion and was very interested. I explained the two sides of thought and he listened intently, then told me a fantastic tale of his trip...
it seems that when Songs for the Deaf was being recorded my friend was working as a sandwich delivery boy. Every day he delivered sandwiches to QOTSA members and the staff at the studio (i won't go into detail about what they ordered, but it was some weird shit). Anyway, he vividly remembers walking in one day to see Song for the Dead being recorded. He said there were TWO people recording vocals AT THE SAME TIME.
"No way!" I said, "do you know who?". Alas, he wasn't familiar with the band (big Britney Spears fan). I was deflated, until he said that he had a hidden camera in his delivery boy hat! Apparently he was hoping to blackmail the group if he caught them in a compromising position.
We raced back to his place and loaded the tape. And then I saw it. The proof. It seems BOTH Mark Lanegan and Chris Goss we singing the track, together!! At the end of the track, Mark said, 'this should fuck the punters up, they'll never know who sung it!' Him and Chris high-fived and laughed hysterically.
I'd show you this tape, but my friend's stupid tape player chewed it up. I then pummeled my friend to death with the stupid player, so no-one else would ever see the proof...

you crack me up boy & you're a fantastic story-teller.
i knew somebody who had a hidden camera at the back of his jacket, at the base of the neck. he was sure he'd get hit by some dudes he owed money too. alas he did get attacked, but the camera batteries were dead so he never knew who did that to him. he lost his short term memory because of the impact of the punch. so now he's trying to find that mofo. so when he sees a new face he doesn't know if he can trust him or not so he tattoos clues, names & dates on his body.he thinks he'll soon find the guy who drastically changed his life. the asshole who did that to my friend deserves a severe beating.

Hey! I knew this dude who once punched this fucker in the back of the head cause he owed him money. maybe it's the same one?
His name was John. I think his last name started with 'G', cause people just called him John G...
I wonder...

i better call Chris Nolan to tell him a scenario i have for a movie. it would be based on true events. it'd be interesting if it was shots in reverse. i think i have something here.
oh yeah
we don't need laughing smilies, only angry ones.

This thread asks the question...
Who does the vocals for the studio version of Song for the Dead?
Is it Chris Goss or Mark Lanegan?
EDIT: & if you believe it's Mark Lanegan, do you have any actual proof?

I heard a version of "One Hundred Days" where during the part where ML & CG sing in harmony, they break out into "Song for the Dead." I couldn't tell if it was one or the other or both singing or there may have been dozens of people singing, I don't know.
