I like CWTAB as well but this song is dreadful. My ears are crying. You don't like CWTAB at all I don't think you like Mark Lanegan at all otherwise you wouldn't spend so much of your time trolling on this site.

And regarding the song, it is not SO "horrible". Personally not my cup of tea at all, but i already heard worse, hey!!! The important is they all had fun doing it, yes ?

I hardly dare to ask. And I haven't worked up the courage yet to actually listen to the song. The controversy might be too much for my fragile nerves. But. I'm curious.
Is there really a synthesizer on it?

Hey Gunslinger, I rustled you up a knuckle sandwich for lunch. That's not a very nice thing to say, Obi Wan Why can't we all just get along? Now I've listened to the song and I have to say Wow! That's right up in my Top 3 of recent collabs Mr Lanegan has made recently... and I really love the sound the guitar makes in the intro! I hope there might be more of this in the future. <3

I really find it hard to beleive people actually like this. It feels like some kind of inside joke going on.

This song is so mesmerising and poppy, what's not to love? It's great to sing along to. Maybe he'll get more radio airplay with it, it's so catchy.

I just want to pop in here again and throw in that I actually LIKE this song - but then, I like all sorts of things that baffle other people, so I'm used to that by now!

I definitely prefer Lonely Light over this, but it's not THAT bad. I would take this over that song he did with Slash... Agreed - after reading the thread I was expecting a lot worse. Yes, it's 'poppy' & formulaic & I'm surprised if it's going to be anyone's new fave for very long. But there's only one voice in the world that could possibly save it...and it kinda did imo.

"catchy"? Yes, of course, why not. Something pleasant that you can't get out of your head for the rest of the day is surely a good thing? I hope he follows this direction for his next album, maybe he'll finally get the recognition of a wider audience. He deserves the success, imho.

I think this debate is kinda dumb. People don't have to agree on everything, especially music, which is very personal to each one of us. And think of this. Maybe Mark is not allways pleased with certain songs and/or collaborations, but they still see the light of day. He obviously put an effort to it, so I applaud him for that.
Now this came to mind... you think it's possible that Mark's direction could change that much, enough to separate his fans in two? Those that like his new stuff and those that absolutely hate it?

I always find it amazing that people with generally dissimilar tastes in music can still agree on any one artist at all. I have friends who are into Mark and like much of the same other music that I do - and some friends that are into Mark and I can't listen to a single other thing they love!
I'm sure it's the same for fans of other people too. Because gee, wouldn't the world be a boring place if we were all the same..? (I think this was something I learned at age 4 or 5, maybe...)

No offence - please dont ban me! - but thats the kind of 'settle down kids' speech I'd expect from a senior moderator. In your heart, don't you think the song is just rubbish? Just a leeetle bit, you know, craptastic? Come on Raeni, you dont have to sit on that fence all the time...

The point of that post WAS to say settle down. Not everyone has to like the song, but I'm getting tired of coming on here and seeing board members bashing each other over every little thing, then whining about how someone is upsetting them. It's so pointless. You want MY opinion? I don't have any technical musical knowledge or anything like that. Do I hate the song? No. Is it my favorite? No. I love hearing Mark's voice - in fact I can't think of a song he sings that I don't like to hear the sound of his voice. That said, I tend to be more lyric focused - it has to say something to me in words that I can feel to be a favorite. I've only heard it once but I didn't latch onto any particular word or phrase that made me care. I like the eastern tinge of the music, but as has been said somewhere else on the forum, I am a huge Tea Party/Jeff Martin fan, and they do that sound better, to my ears. But no, I wouldn't call it crap. I cared less for the Slash Sin City song - I DID like some of the lyrics in that one, but that song just didn't 'flow' or something to me. I don't know technically why that would be, but I just couldn't 'feel' the lyrics the way I feel so many of Mark's songs. Just my opinion, obviously.
