Change is always something difficult. Personally, I love that Lanegan decided to go such a progressive and new way, experimenting, not doing the same stuff but going forward! Even some of the lyrics can be seen this way: "Black rider run"... someone who is known for riding is encouraged to change his ways, try something new and run. With"riding" you are dependent on something else, a horse or a bike, but with "running" you are independent and free! And the following line "look what you've done".. with changing your ways and experimenting you are alienating others who are used to you being predictable! Such a clever masterpiece!
