Me neither, Raeni, but I sure have a lots of songs to go and listen to now. As for the covers album, I hope it introduces me to some new artists and I know I'm gonna love it. I'll Take Care of You is such a great collection I just hope it lives up to that.

This is easy for me. I really really really want Mark to be able to sing "talk to me" since Kurt wrote it for him and then Courtney stole it and gave it to Iggy. I'm sure you all know the story. That is a song i think he should get to do and i have no idea why Courtney does what she does. She totally ruins everything.

Another Leaving Trains Cover would be awesome. Maybe "Temporal Slut"...
Or "Slip inside this House" by the Elevators.

I sooooo love the True Blood theme Raeni, good idea!
I'm not really musically smart neither, so:
I Want You - The Beatles (I'm a huge fan of the Beatles, it seems that it's not the case for everybody here ;-) )
I'm also a huge fan of Noir Désir, so good idea too, pin964, but I think Mark doesn't speak French sufficiently well, maybe an English adaptation? In fact my favourite Noir Désir song is The Wound, which is (obviously) in English, so I will go with that one.
Mad World by Tears For Fears
He Was A Friend Of Mine

I often wonder why I never hear from fans of Mark and Mark himself appreciation for The Doors and Jim Morrison. I am a huge Doors fan as well as Lanegan. I would love to hear, no dying to hear Mark doing Doors songs (especially form the bluesy album L.A. Woman). But I feel like I'm asking something strange, like it's a cliche or something.

Ok i didn't go check in the forum to see if someone had already posted about what courtney did. It happened a long time ago and if it's already mentioned then my bad. I'll tell you what i know and what courtney said. Kurt loved Mark a lot. He wrote a song for Mark called "talk to me" and nirvana has performed it 2 or 3 times. I'll grab a video of them doing it. I actually want to cover it myself but anyways..Kurt wrote it as a gift to Mark and he wrote another called "opinions" that he intended to give to Iggy Pop. Courtney thought it would be awesome to switch them and give Mark "opinions" and Iggy "talk to me" which makes 0 sense. I'll copy and paste what she said....:September 1994, Love said in an interview that it was Kurt's intention to give one of the songs, 'Talk To Me', to ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan and another, 'Opinion', to Iggy Pop."Love said in 1994: "The last songs he wrote are so beautiful. I figure since Kurt screwed me over by splitting, I'm switching. Iggy will have a hit anyway. Lanegan is great and Kurt loved him so much I'm going to give him 'Opinion' and Iggy gets 'Talk To Me' which is real cool."...NO IT ISN'T! It is not cool at all. Since he split on me i'm going to do the opposite of what he wanted and give things that are this special to the wrong people? What is wrong with her? She bothers me and i wish Mark had the song as Kurt intended because i know he'd do a great job with it.

I'm also a huge fan of Noir Désir He Was A Friend Of Mine Noir Désir and Dave Van Ronk: mimie you move me! Bertrand share with Mark the love for JLP: he wrote a really beautiful song for Jeffrey called Song for JLP and took part in the JLP Sessions Project II with Rose's Blues. Besides in the 2013 we'll get the upcoming film directed by Joel and Ethan Coen called Inside Llewyn Davis who tells the story of DVR and the Bertrand Cantat solo album... Yeah!

I don't think it's strange, and he'd sound great on those songs. I do remember an interview with the Screaming Trees, somewhere during the Dust-era, where someone commented he sounded like Jim Morrison and he said that 'they say that about all singers with deep voices' - or something to that effect.

Well, i love the doors and the beatles. If i had to pick one for him to do from each then i would go for "oh darlin" by the beatles. My reasoning is that its one of my favorite beatle songs and i would like to hear Mark really push his voice hard. As far as the doors, i'm thinking that if he did "bird of prey" just like the original then that would be so amazing. No music just Mark singing the melody alone. I'll go ahead and display my strange taste in music and add that i would also like to hear him cover donovan. I have no idea what happened to donovan. Most of my friends are into Marc Bolan and Bowie but it seems i'm the only one who really thinks donovan is killer. I'm thinking "hurdy gurdy man" would be so intimidating in Mark's low register. Any T-Rex song also would be great. Marc Bolan has a really unique voice and i think if ML did one of his then it would sound very different. I think he would do well with some old gospel. My friend always covers this song called "touch the hem of his garment". It's an old Soulstirrers song when Sam Cooke was with them. I have some videos of my friend covering it and i bet Mark would kill it! There appears to be plenty of songs i'd like to hear Mark cover! ha!

Anyway would be great listen this song on the new covers record: so Mark would come full circle.

Was he the guy who murdered his girlfriend? Unfortunately he was. Marie Trintignant (a french actress) got killed in the 2003 during a brawl. It's a really sad story... I'm so glad to find on OW forum some Noir Désir fans...

Folks, the most obvious song that Mr Lanegan ought to cover is, of course, LANNIGAN'S BALL. Here's the great Christy Moore singing it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsTy4_n4aqkDiddly-aye yo!

This is the song. Its a great song! I have never heard this song before and I have plenty of old Nirvana stuff. thanks for posting. That is a killer song. That band was really something. I think Mark could work with that but doubt he would do it other than maybe a one-off because it would be profiting on his friends demise. If he wanted to do that he would have done it long ago.

Noir Désir and Dave Van Ronk: mimie you move me! To be honest, I didn't know about that version by Dave Van Ronk! I first heard the song covered by the Bishops on their second album. It is really beautiful and with Mark's voice it would be perfect. As I'm also a huge fan of BRMC (God I'm a huge fan of a lot of bands ;D) I will go with Beat The Devil's Tattoo too. Well, this record must be at least a double one with all those ideas ;D
