A bit from Isobels Myspace :
"I'm hoping I can twist Mark's arm to try out a few new songs. He has been on the road all year, so hopefully he won't be too weary. The record also gets released in America around the middle of November so I think that will be a good thing too. And then there's a little E.P. that I mastered at Abbey Road last week – it's called Keep Me In Mind Sweetheart - and a re-packaged album with some live tracks getting released in Europe come November too."
Track List:
1. Keep Me In Mind Sweetheart 2:30 2. Fight Fire With Fire 4:33 3. Asleep On A Sixpence 4:13 4. Violin Tango 1:37 5. Rambling Rose, Clinging Vine 4:37 6. Hang On 4:44
Released 17/11.
Can't wait!

Remember back in the day, in and around "A Stitch In Time", it was said (in an interview?) that the next incarnation of The Twilight Singers was going to be Dulli, Lanegan and Joseph Arthur? Wonder how that's panning out? (Probably not panning out at all, is it? Maybe Lanegan but who knows, maybe Dulli wants a clean slate with the new TS album, I don't know, Im rambling now.)

Lanegan's vocal for the chorus of "Flow Like A River" had me grinning like a twat on the way to work this morning. It was the first time I'd heard it, came as a very pleasant surprise. Can't help but mention that it sounds a little strained, but I couldn't give a flying toss, it's fucking amazing, as is that particular song.

funnily enough, i just want to know which song he was talking about. He was talking about "God's Children" It would have been more controversial if he'd said, "I love the Gutter Twins, that Adorata is fucking amazing!", 'cause, y'know, no-one else has even seen a track list.

I'll take it however I can get it but I'd like a cd please, thanks. As far as the digital version is concerned, it had better be in a lossless format.

If you have it, listen to it. It's much better than "Ballad...", and I didn't mind that one too much. "Sunday..." is a real grower, I didn't warm to it at all in the beginning, but it really is a great album. Some real nice Lanegan vocal performances on there, only two Isobel solo tracks, and one of those is instrumental! You can't lose.

Here's the link I posted a while back in the "Sunday At Devil Dirt" thread, it's only a preview mind : www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=108296It sounds like a really good song, just a pity Mark doesn't appear on it.

honestly, post 2003 is a world apart, i swear. you think this is bad? this is beyond good. Not too sure if I follow the bit in bold, but let me say I don't think it's a bad thing Mark is shy. Are you saying that post 2003 he's come out of his shell more? I've only seen Mark live twice. First time in Utrecht on the Bubblegum tour (had the opportunity to speak to him a few times outside the venue but didn't, purely out of respect), and with the Twilight singers in Belfast. I had never even seen a live video / interview with him before the Bubblegum gig so had no idea what to expect. Safe to say the gig blew my mind and I found Marks stage presence astonishing, the fact that he barely moved an inch was fascinating (and cool) to me. Since then I've seen a few things, in some he's quite animated (QOTSA / the Italian interview for Bubblegum), but the performances I've seen from 2005 or so he seems a lot shyer, culminating in the Culture Show performance. Maybe I'm wrong, I just love the guy's voice and music, and am naturally curious to find out a bit more from people out there who know more than I do. This swagger you mentioned, is it related to QOTSA? Those are the times I've seen him at his most animated. That pre-performance interview on the Culture Show though, that's the most uncomfortable I've seen him, though he looked quite youthful as well!

This may be a strange question, maybe too personal a question to post on a message board, I don't know but let's run with it. In relation to his terrible shyness I ask this : is it possible that Mark is getting shyer as he gets older? I only ask because watching him during the culture Show with Isobel Campbell made even me feel oddly uncomfortable. Mark seemed incredibly uncomfortable during the short interview and during Isobel's hideous whistling.
Maybe he was just tired or something, but I found it strange.

So, has anyone heard the b-side of the Who Built The Road 7" called Wild Is The Night? I'd no idea where else to post this. There's a short preview of "Wild Is The Night" here : www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=108296It sounds really good, but Lanegan-less unfortunately. Not surprising, he didn't appear on any of the previous 'exclusive' b-sides. Unsurprisingly again, he doesn't appear on the cover of the single (slightly unfair of me to say I suppose, since he kinda looms out of the darkness on the cover of "Honey Child What Can I Do?", but you know what I mean).

Ok so, drink lots of amstel (in rounds of 4 at most) Amstel is nice but I much prefer Grolsch, developed quite a taste for it when I was living over there.

Mark and Isobel are appearing on a BBC television program tonight, they also happened to do a few songs live on a BBC radio show last night. So the links are for anyone who wishes to listen to the show. As Ken points out "Seafaring Song" is on straight away, and 44 minutes later there's a short interview plus 2 more songs, "Who Built The Road", and "Salvation".
It was great actually, enjoyed it loads. Marc Riley seems a genuine enough fan, saying he'd been to see the Screaming Trees, Lanegan solo, and the Gutter Twins live.
I especially liked Riley's idea that if Mark decides to quit music he should go out on the road as a memory man!

"Into My Arms", by Nick Cave? Although it does reference that God fella right enough. Maybe "Lime Tree Arbour", or "(Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For?".

You didn't miss anything, they weren't on. I was hoping for a sneaky tune tonight but it didn't happen, no doubt because they're in London.
Roll on Friday.

Isobel and Mark appeared on the Mark Radcliffe show on the 22.01.07. They played a few songs live (Rambling Man, Do You Wanna Come Walk With Me, The Circus Is Leaving Town), and they were interviewed periodically throughout the show by Radcliffe. Anyway, Radcliffe had been lightheartedly messing with Lanegan throughout, and kept saying he was determined to get him to tell a joke.
It gets near to the end of the show and Radcliffe finally gets Lanegan to tell the joke (I think Radcliffe may have said "Here's the joke here", and handed Mark a piece of paper with the joke on it) :
"Why did Jesus cross the road? 'Cause the Romans were whippin' him, an', hittin' him with rocks."
Cue much tittering from Isobel Campbell, and Radcliffe saying something like, " That's not the punchline I've got written down here", all the while Campbell's still giggling and whispering to Mark. I think she may have said, "Where'd that come from!", but I can't remember.
It was just his delivery of the punchline, it just dripped from his mouth, definitely seemed improvised. Well funny.
That's my recollection at least.

Wonder if Lanegan will be forced to tell any jokes this time round. His droll delivery of the punchline, which he just made up on the spot last time around, was fucking ace!
