Its funny how people that sont understand somwthing automatically consider it bad. That's a false assumption. I understand the lyrical content and what it signifies. I just don't like the musical construction, the sound of it. Doesn't fit at all with the rest of the album.

Doesn't fit at all with the rest of the album. i think The Body is a really good song.. i just don't think it's a really good record of the song. i love the melody, the lyrics, the guitar line, martina's backing vocal... i just dont think the recorded version is quite what it should be, and as many people have said, it doesnt quite 'fit'. i get what they were doing with it, i understand it's place in the tracklisting.. i dont need it explaining to me. i just cant help thinking it could've been arranged a bit more thoughtfully in relation to the rest of the album. it sounds too clean and too digital. and no, i dont just mean 'the loop'.

Seven stories underground is the best IMO a truly great song. All misery flowers is also good, these are the only two tracks worthy of previous Lanegan material in my opinion, the muddy production doesn't help. Who will lead us is nice to a point, i particularly like Mark's vocals on this one. I really want a new solo album from Mark, both Isobel cambell albums, the soulsavers and the gutter twins record all have their moments but there not a patch on whiskey... or field songs IMO. Im glad Mark's working hard and contributing to so many records but i wish there was a bit more quality to go with the quantity.

front street, circle the fringes, or the stations. the way greg's voice sounds on front street still sort of creeps me out, but in a very good way...

It's not my favourite track on the album, but it's nice enough - it's quite important that it's there though, as the first half would be pretty miserable without it (Each to Each does the same with the 2nd half), giving the whole affair a much better balance. What? The first half? The Body is song number 4 out of 12. Eliminating The Body gives us a very strong 5 song first half to go with the even better 6 song second half...
