Yes. It's fucking brilliant. Anyone whose spirit is not lifted by the contents of this album simply hasn't got one.

I'm patiently waiting for this album to come out already. EDIT: whoops sorry, I didn't see the other thread where you indicated that you've heard the album. Look forward to your review!

Haven't got the time to do a proper one yet, might do one tomorrow (lies! I'm outta here for a while). Few pointers though that don't seem to have been mentioned yet:
1. Wonderful ego-less performances from special guests happy to do great things in the background for the most part.
2. Big deal (rightly) being made of the guitars. Bigger deals should be made of the orchestration, the wonderful chimes being coaxed from the pianos and what sounds like mellotronned flutes.
3. Mark's voice. Christ on a Bike he's outdone himself here.
4. Very surreal in places. Rolling Sky especially, but there's a wonderful bit 2/3rds through Shadows Fall where it's just lots of Mark's voice going a bit odd.
5. It's an utterly timeless piece of work.
6. Buy Red Ghost's Brittle Times EP off iTunes (it's two and a half quid you tight sods) so you can say that you were into her before everyone else was. Her performances are outstanding.
7. Some Misunderstanding will make you cry.

7. Some Misunderstanding will make you cry. Is it not the Praying Ground we know and love? No true Lanegan/Patton duet? Atleast I'm mentally prepared to cry.

Patton is underneath, but still very present, his voice makes the chorus just soar !

Broken is fantastic! It's the best thing these ears have heard in a long time. Tracks 5-9 (From "Some Misunderstanding" to "Pharoah's Chariot") are sooooooo good, but the whole album from start to finish is incredible. Also, Red Ghost is a great addition. People might gripe about this or that, but that'll be frivolous because the album soars.

Mitya, you're newish so just to be on the safe side on the whole download thing: broken is a commercially available record so linking to places where it can be downloaded illegally is not allowed here. I know some of you might and probably will go tsssk tsssk now, but i am pointing this out just to try and avoid having to delete posts again.

So what? It's copyrighted. Just to reiterate, anyone posting links or redirecting to stuff like this will be banned, and if I'm in a bad enough mood at the time, I'll also pass on offenders' email addresses to the copyright holders so you can give your excuses direct

broken is not commercially available yet. oh panouououls, come on are we going to have to do this all over again? you know what i mean, you know the rules, you know why the rules are there, you know the definition of words like "illegal" and "commercially available". Please don't insult my, or for that matter, your own intelligence and stop this discussion about illegal downloading.

Also, I've pre-ordered it from Rough Trade, and am looking forward to hearing all the remixes. The Mogwai version of Death Bells is excellent.
