There's some great bands on there (Magnetic North are fantastic, they did one of my favourite albums of this year) - The Smoke Fairies' contribution can be heard here.

It's an interesting line up all right, Gavin Clark doing Shiloh Town, I wonder if he's heard Mark's version? I can already imagine Mark's take on Red Balloon. Imagination is killing home taping.

I found out yesterday that Red Balloon is about heroin.

Unfortunately, just about every song that mentions balloons is referring to heroin, one of my favorites being Failure's Dirty Blue Balloons. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2Z2QjsmjWM

My mum found out that the Stranglers' Golden Brown was all about heroin about 20 years after she bought it for me as a 7". She was hillariously horrified, I had to put my best "no, really?" face.

It's worth a listen as it redefines insipid.

I had never heard of her before your post, but I must agree. She seems to be one of those cases where talent doesn't equal quality of product, like Van Halen or any number of heavy metal bands.

It's lovely . He sounds very like Steve Marriott at the beginning but it's more restrained than Marriott. I'm not sure I'd have recognised it as Lanegan

Not as good as the mighty original but still very good.
I love Tim Hardin's songs but apart from Mark's contribution im wondering who else can do his songs any kind of justice? Alela Diane perhaps but the rest...?

New Recruit, Cult Leader, etc. aren't usernames, they're ranks, silly rabbits. Another forum I'm on has ranks such as "Just Dating," "Fuck Buddy" and "Ball and Chain."
