Just on QOTSA Facebook:
"Lanegan came by. He didn't say much, but he sang good. Troy Van Leeuwen said to Dean Fertita as overheard by Mikey Shoes"
;D

I love the way he's always "Lanegan" and not Mark for the Queens gang.

I was looking forward to a new Queens album. Especially with Mark singing on it, because I love In The Fade and A Song For The Dead. But the list of people working on that album is getting longer and longer... I doubt anything good can come out of that... But I sure hope they'll prove me wrong! As long as they won't hold hands and sing We Are The World all together haha

Also why won't they bring in some new talent instead of dusting off the oldies?

(end quote) And it's not that you didn't enjoy Bubblegum :). So this proves that it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to turn out to be a bad mishmash. Someone posted on youtube the BBC radio interview from last December or so with Queens, Mark can be heard around 11 minutes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmnto1WabaA

Thanks for easing my worried mind ;D I guess Elton John singing on it was a bit much for my brain to process. I still do not see a reason for him being on there though. Other than to get people talking about your album or because it is funny...

Elton John is not an obvious choice, his voice is completely shot these days but if he's just playing piano he will be fine.

Elton John played on AIC's last album. Not sure why people are so shocked at his involvement.

I'm quite looking forward to this - he may now be remembered by most as a Funeral-gigging fancy dress poppet, but Reg in his day made some fantastic records (during 1 year in the 70s, he accounted for 2% of ALL worldwide records sales), and out-debauched pretty much anyone (some 2% of Colombia's entire GDP vanishing up his nose in a similar period). And he had his own Muppet Show episode.

Reg in his day did indeed produce a fine body of work.

I grew up listening to Reg with my mum and sisters. I find it rather sweet that he's showing up on albums by bands i love as an adult.

His finest and greatest body of work was done in the 70s (my opinion),I seen a clip of him last year performing live, he sounded absolutely shocking (my opinion). Hopefully and if he does'nt spit his diamond encrusted dummy out, his vocals might be low down in the mix. As for Jake Shears i can't see how he is gonna fit on this album, maybe they can mix/blend/cover his vocals with the ever-present Lap Steel!!!

June. Like Clockwork. On Matador Records. Not 100% sure what's going on there, but hey. Refreshing the page a few times helps

Also, not sure / can't be arsed checking to see if these names have already been mentioned - Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and UNKLE's James Lavelle are also on the record

Sooo... show in Brazil.
I'm so sad. What the fuck? Totally left cold by the new song. Weird delivery of old songs. What is going on? Its not just 'oh there are new people in the band'... its Josh. And I'm sad. I didn't watch enough of it to be able to tell, but am curious if he had his Ketel One.

I think the new song is OK, I'm not really into discovering new songs live anyway (moreover on Youtube). The album will be awesome, I don't doubt it, I love every fucking album they made, even Era Vulgaris, even when Mark doesn't sing ^^

Queens Of The Stone Age played Dutch TV show DWDD tonight. This TV show has a very annoying rule; musicians are only allowed to play for one minute QOTSA played My God Is The Sun and ended by all pretending to look at their watches. I don't care much for the song (I like the short creepy video's + songs a whole lot better!) but I thought their silent protest to only getting one minute to play was very funny You can see it here: dewerelddraaitdoor.vara.nl/media/236297(oh and girls... did you all notice how hot Mikey Shoes is looking lately??? My god! Haha ;D)
