Finally - a reason to get up early on the 19th! With the exception of the Death Waltz stuff (esp. Clint Mansell!), it's all a bit dull so far. Unless you're a Bathory fan, of course.

Yeah....this is great news and completely needed. My vinyl catalogue of The Screaming Trees was severely missing the final bookend!
Does anyone have any idea why the song "One Way Conversation" was not included on Last Words? I was a big fan of this song and I remember them releasing this song "online only" when they were trying to get a record deal, but it didn't make it onto this record. It seems weird that this was one of their final songs, but wasn't included on Last Words. What happened with this little ditty!

No idea what happened to One Way Conversation but it's well worthy of inclusion.
Personally I prefer the alternate version of Anita Grey also, though both versions are great. I found my way to Lanegan/Screaming Trees through being a fan of QOTSA/Josh Homme, so I admit the 'released' version is truer to the Trees overall sound.
This is fantastic news though, any further updates greatly appreciated!

Not sure why they decided to leave that one off, but as I recall (circa early 2011) when the official announcement of Last Words hit the board, there were discussions over two songs that didn't end up on the tracklist: One Way Conversation (the one we all know), and the other being an unknown song called Strange. It would be great to see both released as a special download or something when the vinyl hits the shelves.

Or an additional 7" for RSD... (wishful thinking)

Maybe I'm remembering this all wrong, but wasn't 'One Way Conversation'/'Strange' going to be released as a 7" on Van's label at one point? Really wish they'd squeezed it onto Last Words though, maybe as hidden or bonus tracks if they felt it spoilt the overall flow.

When Last Words was released, I remember making a comment on the Trees' Facebook page inquiring about the two songs, but it was deleted. I just assumed that they decided to wait and release at a later date through Van's label or something. RSD would be the perfect opportunity

There was a jokey comment about a 7" entitled "The Bitter Dregs", which eventually got deleted due to too many people taking it seriously.

Last Words isn't on the official list. What gives?

Not checked yet, but there's a lot of stuff due for release on the 19th that isn't official RSD goings-on. It's complicated EDIT: Yup, here it is in UKland. Blimey, the list's rather bloated again, isn't it? They really need to pare it down for the future as it can end up putting more strain on record stores than anything else - especially here, where HMV (now privately owned and therefore qualifying as an independent retailer) are hovering over inclusion for future ones.

Last Words isn't on the official list. What gives? It's on the official UK list. Maybe it's not an 'official' RSD release in the US? Maybe it's more viable for them to distribute it and sell it themselves over there without doing whatever you do to be part of RSD?

I'd bet we end up seeing two variants of this record. The RSK UK release on red vinyl followed by a US release on black vinyl. When dealing with distribution between the US and UK, it is fairly common to have two different pressings.
My only gripe is that I already know that I CAN'T get a RSD UK red vinyl copy for a regular price and will have to result to high prices on EBAY...or Discogs.
Has anyone seen how many they are pressing for RSD UK? Do we know the number? If it is less than a few thousand, this will be expensive. If it is more than a few thousand, I'd bet you will pick it up on Ebay or Discogs for a fair price.

If it's more than a few hundred to be honest, it'll be easy enough to pick up. RSD is now so overstuffed with crap that very few things that people actually want to take home and play that those things are actually rather easy to get hold of. With the exception of a couple of things that the flippers will be going mental for (Bowie, Dinosaur Jr, the Soundgarden boxset etc), it's a lot easier to get hold of RSD stuff than you'd believe. After the original bunfight on the day, there will be HUGE numbers of unsold and unordered records available in shops for a further week, and then it all goes online the following Monday/Tuesday. There are a lot of shops participating in RSD, and almost all of these will have stock well beyond the event (and still have from years past). And if they don't, wait. The only thing I didn't get on the day last year that I had on my list was the Moby 7", which was on ebay regularly for £25+. I got it, still sealed, 3 months later for £8 (2 quid cheaper than on the day).

Best thing to do is ask your local record store if they are able to order one - with over 600 titles (thankfully down from almost 750 last year) it's possible that it's been missed off the official US list. There's also the thing that there will be a lot of non-"official" RSD titles available on the same day (no idea why this is happening) so it could well be there anyway. Either way, go into your record store and ask! Order lists are being finalised this week, and if it is available and you don't ask, you may well miss out
