anyone has already heard the new Queens album? i'm kind of disapointed: only one short song with Mark and some backing vocals.

Well if you were looking for more Mark, I guess it would be a disappointment. I've heard some people say they don't care for the new album and that QOTSA lost it, but I'll just wait and judge for myself. I need to pre-order it from Amazon. There's a limited edition with a DVD included.

On first couple of listens, I have to say that I quite like it. As for not a lot of Mark - there was the small matter of his own album and constant touring throughout most of last year that may well account for his not doing too much work with someone else's band...

I like it, but I miss the contrast of Nick's vocals. Josh is REALLY falsetto on some of the stuff, but it grows on you.

LTP is great. No fillers, all good tracks.
Skin on Skin, Burn The Witch, Long Slow Goodbye, and I Never Came are my favs.
Josh is a master- too fuckin' talented. He had a lot to prove, and did. (In my opinion.)
Yeah, I miss Nick's hardcore influences on the group. But that's the way goes.

.....after two weeks of feeling like the only person in the universe not to have heard this album, I finally managed to get my hands on a copy & I have to say I rather like it, especially the second half after Little Sister, I'm not sure about 'In My Head'..........I'm hoping for a couple of scary ass, mini epic videos to go with the nice dark edge on this album - there's a rumour that one of them features the guys dancing, so...... .......and yes, Nick's absence is noticeable, nobody yowls quite like him but it's interesting to hear what's been produced without him

It's certainly strange... Gah - captured it mid-frame. Ah well, not doing it again so toughMark on the right?

Just noticed that the bottom half of (who I presume to be) Josh's legs are missing in that shot...

I happened to pre-order the album from Amazon UK and I noticed there are 2 UK bonus tracks listed: "Like A Drug" and "Precious and Grace". I hate when artists do that b/c if I order something from the American site, I'm missing out. I know there's a hidden track on the American version called "The Fun Machine Took a Shit And Died" and I wonder if that's on the UK version also. I don't see why the same shit can't be released in both countries.

Something to do with the joys of the ease that people can order overseas, I presume - there will be a lot of people wanting to get their hands on every track available, so there will be a lot of people from each territory buying copies of the CD from other countries as well as their own, which pushes the thing up the chart in both countries at the same time... I really hate when bands (or rather their record companies) try to get people to buy multiple copies of essentially the same product - the release of Little Sister over here (1 CD containing remixes, 1 DVD containing the video, both containing the same song and contributing to the same chart position) being another case in point EDIT: According to the liner notes in the (literally) shiny UK deluxe edition...

Just listened to the album for a first time and I have to say that I think it kicks ass. "This Lullaby" is such a beatiful song and I just love the fact that Mark has a song of his own on the album.
Josh Homme definitely knows how to rock, although I miss Nick's voice a bit too. The special thing about QOTSA used to be that they had multiple vocalists. That is not to say that they couldn't change what they do and develop as a band.
As for now, I give four stars to the album. Presumably tomorrow I'll give four and a half and in a week five stars.

Watched the DVD last night & it's a pretty goog giggle. The spoof interview with Josh (shown partially on the Little Sister DVD) is here in full, as is the full vid for Someone's in the Wolf - drags on a bit, but is nicely weird all the same...

Ok, is the "Someone's in the Wolf" vid the only vid on the DVD?

One thing I don't miss about the old QOTSA is the radio bits between songs. That joke was really tired after two years.
Just listened the Mark's track again, and I'm very excited for the show now. Two weeks!
