hey thanks Stephanie for noticing...this is my first time ever posting anything on anywhere as u can see by my whopping 7 posts (congrats on ur freakin 1601st!) so I made sure I'm doing it right from the heart...I don't use facebook or any social network thingys...but I don't mind running my yap if the topic has something to do with what I have a deep love for...which is music, as is the case in many of our lives. I turn to it constantly for any occasion whether it be sleep, chillin, cruisin in the car or wuteva...the new album has me re-listening to alot of his older albums...love going to sleep to Scraps At Midnight but the last song always wakes me up, but I don't mind...btw Stephanie I dig ur avatar picture...it reminds me of the new album cover. Is it by any particular artist or did u just find it? ...ur quote thingy on the bottom is awesome also...how do I too get 5 blue stars and acquire cult leader status?

how do I too get 5 blue stars and acquire cult leader status? By making a 'freakish' 1000 posts. Or maybe its 'just' 500? If you want to work on that, there are plenty of mindless threads in the general discussion forum, like 'what are you listening to right now' and 'tell a joke' and there even was a random word association thread.... yep. Be careful. This place'll suck ya in good.

The 2nd verse of Harborview Hospital makes me think of how he might be paying respects to the fallen legends Layne and Kurdt or maybe even any loved one or friend who has passed away, being that he was so close to Layne & Kurdt...I imagine both singing or maybe even harmonizing on a calabo vocal section up on cloud 9..."way up on the hill...building a mystical union"...then we got the "Dirt" reference...and "u say it doesn't hurt" means no pain...free of pain...and it might be a stretch but "hurt" does rhyme with Kurdt...hmm jfk ...and in the 3rd verse ends with "leave a flower there"...what'chall think? ...did Layne or Kurdt ever end up at Harborview Hospital at anytime for anything? anybody read their bio's good enough to know these types of things? c'mon there's gotta be someone from Seattle who knows every ghastly detail of the 90's grunge movement...someone who might actually be able to open up about it nearly 20 years later to paint a more vivid picture to the rest of the world who wasn't there or never got to experience a grunge live show in the mid-90's hey-day...trip on my traslation y'all...here's the verse for reference... verse 2 of Harborview Hospital: they're singin' they're singin' way up on the hill they're buildin' they're buildin' a mystical union beautiful and still but down here in the dirt you say it doesn't hurt

I'll just assume, chravez, that you know by now that Mark was close with both Layne and Kurt. As for ghastly details, I think most of us keep those to ourselves, out of respect.

Do you mean Demri Lara Parrott? Layne Staley's sweetheart? ...Demri passed away from endocarditis. This is a bacterial infection of the heart valves that may be caused by many different factors, including the insertion of IV syringes. It is not contagious. But the fact remains that many of the needles she may have used during her heroin use probably contributed to the onset of the infection. Left untreated, this infection can spread throughout the body, resulting in septicemia, a secondary and more serious condition that infects the respiratory, genitourniary and gastroinestinal tracts. This is most likely the condition from which she greatly suffered. Symptoms include high fever and chills.

I hope Blues Funeral has at least a few tracks that are more rockin', blatent and obvious like Bubblegum's "Sideways In Reverse" or "Driving Death Valley Blues"...gotta keep the Johnny Cash spirit alive with the fat middle finger sometimes...na meen? Quiver syndrom. How do you know it ?

was doing a bit of idle surfing and came across this thread frontlines.machinehead1.com/index.php?showtopic=14249and one comment in particular stood out for me, quote: Funny there's a song on there called "Harborview Hospital" - that's a real deal trauma place. Lanegan and I have many mutual friends, and it says a lot that when one of those people lay in a coma in that hospital, Mark and I were the ones who visited the most. I don't really know him but I always thought that spoke very highly of his character, to fly up from L.A. and visit his old pal, when many of that person's 'friends' just kinda checked out/ignored the whole thing.
Good on Mark. Decent human being. This is a wonderful song.
