If it's any help, the main word used in lynchpin song Old Swan (and the last word on the album) is "clean". It's a very upbeat record, and even when he's singing about his demons, he's singing that he's defeated them all except what seems to be the devil himself in the inexplicably jaunty Emperor. But, a lot of Mark's lyrics are clouded in his own imagery as always, so all we can do is read into them however we do, and take comfort or otherwise from our own interpretations. Hope it works out good for you.

When I've written it for the nice people at Echoes & Dust, without whom I wouldn't have a review copy in the first place I've a tiny backlog in place at the mo, hope to have that cleared out in the next day or 3 and I can get cracking on this next. Although it's pretty much going to be an expansion on my 3-word post above

In fact, scratch that - I think now it might be 'The wolf, he drugged the mandarin" instead of the morphine... in only listening to it in the car at the mo, so concentration is limited Edit: nope, it's morphine. Probably.

LostCause - aside from a vague morphine refrain during Sister, it's almost completely drug-reference free, though maybe Old Swan seems to be extolling the virtues of being clean and happy - it's still sinking in though so I could be wrong! At least on an obvious level anyway, as it's one of his more lyrically-opaque albums.

Duke's new album is awesome. I also interviewed him recently which was quite a different experience, but I've only just got home and my battery's about to ping out so eh. Ah, here it is

I saw Josh T Pearson at the Deaf Institute, I agree it'll be a good place to see Duke too. Lovely wallpaper also.

There's a whole Duke tour in Feb, don't think I've ever seen him headlining so could be fun.
