new album itself is pretty good. afghan whigs and twilight singers somehow always seem to fit with the end of summer /start of fall mood for me.
the background vocals was pretty well what i was expecting so not much of a disappointment for me. i find when mark does backup its like hes not even there, not just these tracks but in general

I guess ML actually talked about this some in a rolling stone podcast from 2020. I found it mentioned in a reddit thread: " https://www.reddit.com/r/stonetemplepilots/comments/tagcv2/mark_lanegan_sang_on_a_tune_during_the_shangrila/ Had forgot he mentioned in "Sing Backwards and Weep" about an unreleased song with Scott Weiland and Stone Temple Pilots: "We'd hung out a few times getting fucked up and I had even sung on one of their songs for an album that was never released." This was mentioned in chapter 30, so maybe around the 1995 time frame, but I don't remember anything about an STP album that was never released in that time frame. Purple was in 1994, Tiny Music 1996, Talk Show 1997 Maybe Weiland's Magnificent Bastards record that was never completed? I asked Chris Goss about it many years ago and he told me they recorded more than the two songs that got released but didn't get to finish an album.

1. Prior to the Houston publishing demos being released, Randall Jamail told the forum that there were 15 songs recorded and we would eventually hear 14 of them. one of the songs was scrapped as per mark's wishes (hit the city demo - its mentioned in the liner notes for bubblegum). the other 2 songs are unknown. 2. The Urbino song "Never Come Down." Aldo Struyf confirmed on facebook that he is in possession of a never released, never properly mixed studio version of the song that was recorded in the bubblegum era. 3. There is an unreleased song titled "Love Story" (not taylor's version ) that appears in his lyrics book "I am the Wolf". Mathias Schneeberger receives credit for the music. The lyrics also appear on the jacket for Devil in a Coma, and the lyrics also appear in the pages of the book.

I don’t know anything about Phil the Alien Theme Song. Does anyone have got any more info on that? I’m not sure if Mark is on that All Systems Go song. Here is the link to it. you can barely hear anything, so I'm not sure if credit is given in the closing credits. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJhBC_01s-QIt was discussed on this board as far back as 2006: Yup - at the same time that All Systems Go member John Kastner played on Lanegan's Sideways in Reverse (just before Greg Dulli, Melissa Auf Der Maur , Mathias Shneeberger, Pete Stahl and That Bloke Out Of The Dickies helped out on ASG's 2nd Album), Mark contributed vocals to ASG's cover of Slow's Have Not Been the Same that ended up as Phil The Alien's opening song.

CiremeGLC explained why on facebook with a brief message: "Songs are back up now, did not want to leave the message up permanently..." GLC is prob one of the only reasons why i even bother with facebook these days. he is worth following if you are a fan of screaming trees. he regularly posts music and comments.

This is my tribute to the late Mark Lanegan who passed away on Tuesday February 22, 2022. Words re-imagined based on ML's Lyrics & Writings. This is meant to be sung to the music of Resurrection Song. I used to be able to play Resurrection Song on acoustic guitar, but it was a hobby I didn't stick with, so instead of me singing and strumming poorly in a video tribute, I am only posting the words I have written. RIP Mark.
"UGLY TUESDAY"
Daylight is coming Each night's revival Gaze from the shore In my house there's silence
Goodbye to heaven thank you for the dream Remembering the sunrise wasted on me I sing and weep bad words too Hide while I'm free I want to be there by your side In a wound up sheet we might be tied When I hear a resurrection song
Cry and the night gets wasted When I can't catch the train because they saved me To sing that ugly Tuesday song
Stay, like the rain Dance like a child, Horses or train? The mockingbird went silent. Nod at the sad night porter He's grown to be the lone wolf for her And the street's not where it should be I'm so lonesome in my traction. Thought I wouldn't want to say this time. Thought I called it a day this time

The last poem in the book hit me hard the first time I read it (prior to Mark's passing). It hits even harder now...

My name is Randall Jamail. I haven't visited for a long long time but each time I have, I have received amazing support from the people here. I only write to say I am deeply saddened and that I have lost my dear friend of 30 years. Anything more would be reductive. Take care all and never stop listening to the person who we gather here for. Thank you Randall. As I understand, you were a great friend to Mark and helped him when he needed someone. For that we are forever grateful. Sorry for your loss, and thanks for reaching out.

While reading Devil in a Coma last month, Mark revealed something in his writing that was just completely unexpected to me. He mentioned my Canadian home province by name and that he had ancestors here. I was hoping that this was something he published because he had recently discovered it himself, and that he might plan to visit or play some shows here sometime in the future. I reached out to him on twitter and told him Canada misses him. Alas, a return to Canada was not meant to be.

this is devastating. his music has been a major part of my life since 1996. Was still hoping for the chance to see him perform live for the first time. RIP friend.

not sure if it still matters, but back in the old days raeni didn't want bootlegs promoted or shared on the part of the forum that was visible to the public in case it got the board shut down. the download section is member only so this should probably go there instead

I ordered a signed copy from Waterstones store in the UK. See if they export? Rough Trade also have signed hardback copies. It is great that Mark has recovered to write this book, which clearly was a punishing experience. Dave Greenfield, keyboard player with The Stranglers passed in 2020 with it. That hit me hard during lockdown in the UK. found it: also got 10% off with Coupon code CATHAY10, and shipping is free. boom www.bookdepository.com/Devil-in-a-Coma-Mark-Lanegan/9781399601849tks, I have ordered from this site in the past with no issues. great prices, free shipping.
