My recommendation is 'Mule Variations' - it's a later album but it has a nice variety and shows many sides of what Tom Waits is about.
Early years - 'The Heart of Saturday Night' - This was my first Tom album.
'Rain Dogs' tends to be held as his best by many fans but it's a very tough call.
There are many great Waits albums but those 3 are where my journey started along with 'Heartattack and Vine'.

Hey everybody--my download code worked! Go try yours now as they must have activated it this evening. Haven't listened yet, but really glad it worked. Thank you, Vagrant! FYI, files are 192kbps, but that's better than nothing! Meanwhile it's time that I invest in a functional turntable... That might be good news for us Europeans Hope everyone is enjoying the EP

I wouldn't be surprised if the code was locked, makes sense from a business stand point. They still might activate it a couple of days early though as it's common for people to recieve the vinyl a few days before hand but I don't think it's that common for people to be recieving it this early.

Does the vinyl come with a download code for the mp3's? Since I don't have a vinyl player and have to wait until the deluxe version of the album for a physical copy I am relying on a naughty download in the mean time. Hoping I get to hear Lanegan goodness in the next day or two

Well, after looking at a blank page for two days, I now know how a plasterer feels every day at work. Ha ha ha Stupid Rosser

That new song sounds incredible. I was hoping for the same direction as Blues Funeral/Ode to Sad Disco in some way. EXCITED.

A track list, or at least a disclosure of the number of tracks would be nice... Dry Iced 6:22 No Bells on Sunday 5:51 Sad Lover 3:40 Jonas Pap 2:34 Smokestack Magic 8:18 And no, I haven't heard it. Where did you get this info from?

I've been listening to Lanegan for over 15 years now and I must say I think Blues Funeral and Black Pudding are probably my favourite albums by him. I hope he does another Garwood album sooner rather than later.

I take it the new album is the Mark Lanegan Band one but what about the EP? Is that MLB too or with Duke?
Sorry to hear about the length of the show. His last tour the shows were only just over an hour too.
Any new live cds for sale?

Well he is reported to be working on a new Mark Lanegan Band album but the tour support just says Mark Lanegan as opposed to Mark Lanegan Band as it is listed for the European tour dates. Lets face it though it is never a long wait for a new Mark Lanegan album in some description

It seems it's only for Seattle, Portland, Vancouver and San Francisco that Mark will be supporting Nick Cave.

What's the best way to rip the audio from these?
Great little session, it sounds so good. Shame it's only 3 tracks.

To be frank I think the signing sessions are just a way of increasing merch sales and nothing more. He really doesn't seem like a people person or that happy to really meet his fans. I could be wrong. The show in Manchester was only 80 mins long to make time for this session. Regardless it was pretty shitty what happened today and I feel for anyone who wasted their day with this.
Someone mentioned he had an argument with his guitarist and that's what set Mark off.
